Brief Description:

The Director, Recruitment & Sourcing will serve as the strategic and operational leader of enterprise-wide experienced-hiring talent acquisition activities for Patterson-UTI and its affiliated companies. This role will drive the design and execution of a comprehensive experienced-hiring recruitment and sourcing strategy that aligns with the organization's business priorities, supports workforce planning, and strengthens our employment brand in the market.

This role will oversee a team responsible for full cycle experienced-hire recruitment and sourcing across corporate, technical, and field operations which includes permanent, contractor, and hourly hiring. This role will also serve as a key advisor to senior leadership, providing data-driven insights, enhancing recruiting infrastructure, and building innovative approaches to attract and retain top-tier experienced-hire talent.

Reporting to the Global VP of Talent Acquisition, this role will partner across HR, business units, and external providers to ensure excellence in experienced-hiring outcomes and candidate / stakeholder / recruiter experiences.

Detailed Description:



  • Lead the development and execution of the enterprise talent acquisition experienced-hire recruitment and sourcing strategy, aligned with organizational goals and workforce plans.
  • Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing experienced-hire recruitment and sourcing team that delivers excellence in both high-volume, contractor, and niche hiring environments.
  • Define and implement forward-thinking sourcing and selection methodologies, leveraging technology and employer branding.
  • Serve as the owner and sponsor for major experienced-hire recruitment and sourcing initiatives including partnering with campus recruiting, military outreach, and skilled trades hiring.
  • Establish and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for experienced-hiring recruitment and sourcing team, ensuring continuous improvement across the teams harmonized recruiting processes, candidate experience, and hiring manager satisfaction.
  • Serve as a trusted partner to organizational Presidents and functional leaders to proactively identify future talent needs and succession opportunities for experienced hires.
  • Oversee and optimize vendor relationships, including contingent labor strategies and staffing agency partnerships.
  • Contribute to and lead strategic projects and change initiatives including but not limited to technology adoption (e.g., ATS), process redesign, and talent-related Merger & Acquisition integration.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable labor and employment regulations and internal policy standards.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion and belonging through recruitment practices and partnerships.
  • Represent Patterson-UTI at industry and community events to build relationships and amplify our employer brand.



Job Requirements:



  • Proven experience designing and leading experienced-hiring recruitment and sourcing strategies in complex, matrixed organizations, preferably within industrial, energy, technology, or manufacturing sectors.
  • Expertise in full lifecycle recruiting, high-volume hiring, and passive talent attraction and engagement.
  • Strong command of recruiting analytics and data-driven decision making.
  • Experience optimizing enterprise ATS platforms (Oracle Recruiting Cloud preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to and / or lead organizational change and influence at the senior leadership level.
  • Strategic thinker that possesses professional qualities that instill confidence and trust at all levels in the organization.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local hiring laws and best practices for compliance.
  • Exceptional knowledge of best practices for sourcing, selection, and hiring and the ability to share knowledge and develop team members.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Ability to build, motivate and influence experienced hiring TA teams to produce results within tight deadlines.
  • Ability to provide a continuous improvement mindset to focus on identifying challenges and opportunities and providing creative solutions.
  • Ability and experience in successfully leading multiple strategic projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to maintain Company and employee confidentiality at all times and handle sensitive employee information and protect Company proprietary information in an appropriate manner,
  • Ability to travel as needed to support hiring events, and to visit locations such as shops, yard, work sites, drilling rigs, or other office locations; occasionally requiring extended travel to remote locations and/or overnight stay(s) outside normal office area.

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field of study.
  • 12+years of progressive experience in talent acquisition, including full lifecycle recruiting.
  • 4+ years supervisory experience with large teams (greater than 10 employees).



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS HR, or similar).
  • Experience recruiting skilled trades within the Oil & Gas industry providing contract drilling or pressure pumping services.
  • Experience with Oracle Recruiting Cloud (ORC) applicant tracking system.
  • Recruiting for positions that include field and rig-based roles, technicians, mechanics, trucking, engineering, office/professional, HSE and other related positions.



Additional Details:

Work is primarily in a climate controlled / office environment with minimal safety / health hazard potential. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, or walk with occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending and frequent near vision use for reading and use of computer, telephone and other office equipment. Occasional travel to other Company offices and worksites often in remote locations, is required during normal operating conditions while wearing designated personal protective equipment (PPE).
