Assistant Professor of Medicine at CUMC - Pulmonary

The selected candidate will play a key role in delivering exceptional care to patients with pulmonary conditions, with a focus on diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the Interventional Pulmonary section of the Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care (PACC) division. In addition to clinical duties, the candidate will collaborate with fellow Interventional Pulmonary and Pulmonary Critical Care attendings to provide education and mentorship to medical students, residents, and fellows. Specific clinical and teaching responsibilities will be defined through discussions with the Director, in coordination with PACC Division and Department of Medicine leadership. The candidate will also be encouraged to engage in clinical and patient-centered research, with ample opportunities for meaningful participation.

Responsibilties:




  • Deliver patient care within the Columbia Doctors network, including clinical sessions at the HIP 3 location.



  • Provide rapid and responsive management of patients with pulmonary conditions.



  • Offer clinical instruction to pulmonary critical care fellows through direct teaching at the Adult Pulmonary Clinic (VC-10).



  • Address calls and concerns from referring physicians, both within and outside the Medical Center, in a timely and professional manner.



  • Provide inpatient pulmonary and interventional consultation services at Milstein Hospital and Allen Hospital, in collaboration with the PCCM fellowship program.



  • Participate in clinical and educational conferences for PCCM fellows, when not in conflict with clinical responsibilities.



  • Maintain a full-time outpatient schedule, typically consisting of eight half-day clinical sessions per week.



  • Balance outpatient responsibilities with the following core activities:




    • Inpatient consultations and procedural services



    • Comprehensive patient care across clinical settings



    • Educational engagement with medical trainees



    • Active involvement in patient-centered research initiatives





  • Support institutional efforts to enhance the safety and effectiveness of pulmonary care at CUIMC.



  • Work in coordination with the Director of Interventional Pulmonology and PACC leadership to determine appropriate distribution of inpatient and outpatient responsibilities.



  • Uphold and promote a consistent standard of excellence in clinical care deliver




Minimum Degree Required: MD degree from an accredited medical school.

Minimum Qualifications: Candidate must be board-certified or board-eligible in Pulmonary Medicine, and eligible to practice in the state of New York.
