Position Summary:
The Applications Programmer position supports research efforts in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and real-world data (RWD) analysis. This role is a HYBRID working model with (1) days onsite based on business needs.
Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists in data management and supports the development and maintenance of data processing and analysis pipelines.
- Contributes to the design, development, and implementation of ML/DL models.
- Contributes to the visualization and communication of research findings through publications and presentations.
- Utilizes high-performance computing clusters to run and optimize data workflows.
- Implements GPU-accelerated solutions for efficient data processing and model training.
- Develops and maintains web-based software tools and user interfaces to support AI applications in biomedical research.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Education and Experience
- Requires a master's degree in computer science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Biomedical Informatics or a related field. Bachelor's degree in related field with equivalent experience may be considered in place of advanced degree.
- Requires at least five (5) years of experience in the applications programming space, to include experience with full-stack web development (e.g., React, Flask/Django, SQL/NoSQL databases).
- Requires proficiency in Python and experience with libraries such as PyTorch, scikit-learn, NumPy, and Pandas.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly with large-scale datasets.
- Basic understanding of distributed computing and parallel processing systems.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.
- Requires the ability to work with a diverse set of stakeholders.
Language Skills
Ability to interact and verbally communicate with groups of managers, clients, customers, and general public
Ability to write reports, manuscripts, presentations and other operational correspondence
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Ability to think logically in order to troubleshoot, analyze situations, and make sound decisions
Technical/Computer Skills
Requires ability to manage and record research data, especially protected health information (PHI)
Requires high proficiency with statistical software, including but not limited to SAS, Stata, and R; experience with SQL and Python preferred.
- Requires familiarity with clinical AI technologies; experience implementing and evaluating clinical AI solutions preferred.
Highly proficient computer skills, including extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and e-mail systems; Knowledge and experience with high performance computing systems preferred.
Ability to operate office equipment, including copiers, fax machines, and phones
Strong ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations, and knowledge of statistical terms, methods, and skills used to summarize, describe, and analyze a collection of data
