Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Senior Buyer will play a crucial role in the purchasing department by managing critical purchases, spot buys, and internal PO generation, while maintaining robust vendor relations. This individual will develop a deep understanding of the material requirements for Kennedy Valve's manufacturing operations and work to reduce overall costs and lead times for materials. The objective is to support our manufacturing operations and ensure the consistent supply of high-quality materials.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage critical purchases and spot buys with a focus on cost efficiency and timely delivery.
  • Process purchase requisitions and orders, monitor status and resolve issues with late deliveries or quality issues.
  • Utilizing demand forecasts and MRP signals to manage inventory levels and ensure a consistent supply of materials.
  • Partners with other departments, including engineering, production, and quality, to ensure procurement aligns with production needs and quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with vendors to reduce lead times and cost while effectively supporting our manufacturing operations.
  • Identify and develop alternative sourcing opportunities to ensure supply continuity and cost reduction.
  • Coordinate with various functional units to improve vendor performance focusing on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Maintain and enhance vendor relations, ensuring alignment with Kennedy Valve's core values and operational goals.
Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate degree required; Bachelors preferred in a related field.
  • Minimum three to five (3-5) years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of the impacts of having material available at the right time and in the right quantities to effectively support our operations objectives.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines and support production requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Outlook, and other Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems, preferably AX 2012 R3/D365.
Additional Information

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Walking and performing tasks throughout an active heavy manufacturing operation.
  • Typical office setting with occasional time spent walking the production floor.
  • Exposed to elements, such as cold, heat, noise, dust, odors, fumes, etc.
  • Work schedule is primarily Monday through Friday.
