The Nasher Museum is celebrating 20 years of groundbreaking exhibitions and global impact. As our Accounting Specialist, you'll help ensure the financial health of the museum by managing complex accounting tasks, supporting grant reconciliation, and streamlining financial processes. Your work will directly support our mission to amplify historically underrepresented voices in the arts.

What You'll Do:

Financial Processing and Reporting - 75%



  • Process invoices, purchase orders, expense transfers, and billing
  • Reconcile accounts monthly and prepare detailed financial statements
  • Analyze financial data to maintain accurate records


Budgeting and Grant Reconciliation - 10%



  • Prepare templates for annual budget planning
  • Assist in developing and reconciling grant-related financial reports
  • Track expenditures and ensure grant compliance


Communication and Coordination - 15%



  • Collaborate with museum staff on financial and grant activities
  • Respond to accounting inquiries and improve financial workflows

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Education/Training:
    Two years of post-secondary education in accounting or a related business field
  • Experience:
    Three years in an accounting setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Skills:


    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite
    • Familiarity with SAP or similar financial software
    • Exceptional attention to detail and time management




Compensation & Benefits:
Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $18.00 to USD $26.62. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
