Grounds Laborer
Fort Rucker, Alabama DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Maintains grounds of range and training area property such as ranges, target berms, target frames, and training area structures. Repairs structures and equipment, performing one or more of the following tasks: cutting grass, using walking-type or riding mowers, trim hedges and edges around roadways, ranges, signage, and training areas using hedge trimmers, clippers and edging tools, uses shears and other hand tools, sprays vegetation with fertilizer or insecticide. Job duties also include the following: planting grass, picking up and carts away leaves, paper or other litter; removes debris from walks, driveways, roads, or parking lots, using shovel, repairs and paints fences, gates, benches, tables, guardrails, and outbuildings. Assists in repairing roads, walks, buildings, and mechanical equipment, and may clean offices workshop areas, and parking lots by sweeping, washing, mopping and polishing. Responsible for policing and removal of brass casings on aviation firing pads. Maintenance workers remove fallen and leaning dead trees, encroaching limbs and brush, make minor repair of trails, trail drainage and trail drainage structures and trail location marking. Maintenance Worker removes downed limbs, loose rock and debris from trail ways and will perform other manual labor in the maintenance of Army training lands as directed. The maintenance worker will also maintain vegetation on live-fire and non-live-fire ranges, and other locations both improved and unimproved operating weed whackers, lawn mowers and other vegetation maintenance equipment. The maintenance worker may also assist in the application of herbicide in selected range operations and facilities areas. EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

The position may require frequent visits to range and maintenance sites, including exposure to noise, weather, and outdoor conditions typical of live-fire training environments. The Project Manager may be required to work extended hours, weekends, or holidays based on mission schedules and contract needs.
