Maintenance Trade Helper
Fort Rucker, Alabama DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Supports the Range Operations Branch at Fort Rucker, AL. The Maintenance Trades Helper assists in performing such general duties as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. Work involves a variety of the following duties: replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings, repairing or faucets, and toilets, painting structures and equipment; repairing or replacing broken concrete steps, and sidewalks, replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles, hanging doors and installing door locks, replacing broken window panes. Constructs and repairs training support items on ranges and training areas, studies specifications; and measures, marks, and cut boards, using patterns, templates, ruler, pencil, and hand and power saws. This worker fastens or installs parts, using hammer, nailing machine, or power staple, repairs defective training aids by replacing damaged parts and inserts wood bracings. May build wall facades and target frames using ruler, hand tools, and pneumatic nail gun. May fabricate, repair, modify, and replace woodwork training structures, and apply preservatives to prolong wood life. Performs general maintenance repair to buildings, structures, fences, concrete, asphalt pads, range support facilities, LRC obstacles, and similar training support structures. Performs duties generally assigned to Grounds Laborers as required. Interacts with the client, coordinates work orders with the DPW. EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

The position may require frequent visits to range and maintenance sites, including exposure to noise, weather, and outdoor conditions typical of live-fire training environments. The Project Manager may be required to work extended hours, weekends, or holidays based on mission schedules and contract needs.
