The Technical Data Analyst invests in the future of Southwest's People by driving a Culture of Safety, efficiency, reliability, and innovation through their analysis and identification of statistical trends within aircraft mechanical performance metrics. They'll support the AC Records and Reliability Team within Technical Operations by supporting Company goals, including maintaining low costs, modernizing the operation, and improving aircraft reliability to contribute to Southwest's competitive advantage. This role will also build and maintain tools utilized by Teams in the Reliability space, which will provide necessary analytics. Responsibilities
- Perform concurrent and timely data collection, validation and root cause analysis on data elements to support the Aircraft Records program to identify to identify deficiencies and improve the aircraft maintenance program.
- Perform concurrent and timely data collection, validation and root cause analysis on data elements required by the Reliability and ETOPS Programs to identify deficiencies and improve the aircraft maintenance program
- Compile and maintain Reliability reports as required by the FAA approved Reliability and ETOPS Programs
- Provide in depth data that will allow teams to estimate feasibility, costs, time, and resources needed to implement recommendations for improving Tech Ops impact on Southwest Airlines operations
- Compose and communicate results from complex data and analysis for both technical and non-technical customers and leaders
- Investigate ad-hoc inquiries resulting from emerging maintenance issues and provide analytical reporting to allow Senior Leadership to make business decisions while balancing existing project workload
- Present insights, trends, and possible recommendations by using visual elements supporting the relevant points of the analysis in order to ease Stakeholder understanding
- Develop standard queries to pull and organize data from various sources, establishing the cadence, and validating the necessity of the data requirements
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of moderate level business problems and ability to help to translate business outcomes into data needs
- Knowledge in integrating, storing, and processing large amounts of data necessary for analysis and modeling
- Knowledge of technology platforms and architectures applicable to developing and maintaining self-service reports and dashboards
- Knowledge of data analysis and quantitative modeling techniques used to investigate business questions
- Skilled in gathering requirements and collaborating across cross functional work groups
- Ability to understand the problem, to summarize and perform root cause analysis on data of broad scope and provide recommendations using logic and reasoning
- Ability to identify and clean structured and unstructured data for data analysis and develop basic visuals to support the analysis
- Ability to navigate appropriate FAA regulations including AC 120-17B Maintenance Control by Reliability Methods, AC 120-16G Air Carrier Maintenance Programs, 14 CFR 121.373 Continuing Analysis and Surveillance, 14 CFR 121.374 (h) Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Program for two engine ETOPS and FAA Inspector's Handbook 8900.1, 14 CFR 121.380 Maintenance Recording Requirements
- Ability to actively listen to, understand, and communicate ideas presented in writing, verbally, or in presentations delivered to various levels of audience
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
- Intermediate level experience, fully functioning broad knowledge in:
- Extracting, transforming, and visualizing data
- Root cause analysis and problem solving
- Preferred: Experience in Tableau, Alteryx, MXI (Maintenix), Quickbase
Physical Abilities
- Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
- Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
- Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
- Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
- Must be at least 18 years of age (If the job has a different minimum age requirement, change 18 to applicable age)

Pay & Benefits: Competitive market salary from $77,200 per year to $85,800 per year* depending on qualifications and experience.
