Pharmacist

Position Title: Pharmacist

Location: North Chicago, IL 60064

Assignment Duration: 6 months

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8-hour shifts (8.5 hrs with unpaid 30-min lunch).

Shifts rotate weekly or bi-weekly and can fall anywhere between 6am-10pm.

Training schedule is 8am-4:30pm. Overtime offered as needed but not required. Work Arrangement: Onsite (distribution facility - on feet all day)

Position Summary:

* Reviews prescriptions issued by physicians or other authorized prescribers to assure accuracy and determine formulas and ingredients needed.

* Works in a high-volume specialty/mail-order distribution environment with focus on accuracy, speed, and verification.

Key Responsibilities:

* Reviews prescriptions issued by Physician, or other authorized prescriber to assure accuracy and determine formulas and ingredients needed

* Compounds medications, using standard formulas and processes such as weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients (rare)

* Directs pharmacy workers engaged in mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals

* Answers questions and provides information to pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals (future possibility, not current)

* Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs

* Enters data such as patient name, prescribed medication and cost, to maintain pharmacy files, charge system, and inventory

* Assays medications to determine identity, purity, and strength (rare) * Instructs interns and other medical personnel on matters pertaining to pharmacy

* Physically pushes carts (up to 30 lbs) every few hours in distribution area

Qualification & Experience:

* Active Illinois Pharmacist License (license number must be on resume)

* Retail pharmacy experience strongly preferred (CVS, Walgreens, Target, etc.)

* Mail-order or specialty pharmacy experience also accepted

* At least one role lasting 1+ year in retail preferred

* Able to stand all day and push carts up to 30 lbs

* Multi-tasking in high-volume environment

* Excellent communication and self-motivation
