In this hybrid role based in Irvine, CA (or fully remote within the U.S.), you will focus on evaluating, tracing, and integrating firmware to ensure compliance with industry-leading safety and quality standards. This position is ideal for an engineer with strong analytical skills, excellent documentation abilities, and an eagerness to contribute to meaningful medical innovation.

Hours & Pay

• Hybrid work schedule (Irvine, CA) or Remote (U.S.-based).
• Projected Pay Rate: $59.00 per hour

What You'll Do

• Trace software and firmware requirements to verified test evidence and document clear, compliant links.
• Identify gaps in traceability and escalate issues proactively.
• Assist in developing test strategies to support verification efforts.
• Collaborate with hardware, systems, quality, regulatory, manufacturing, and PMO teams.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and knowledge sharing across R&D.
• Maintain compliance with all quality system requirements, ensuring reliability in every deliverable.

What You'll Bring

• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
• 0-2+ years of software development experience (embedded or application), ideally in medical devices.
• Strong technical writing ability and an understanding of core software engineering principles.
• Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills.

Preferred Experience

• Background working in medical device development or with active implantable systems.
• Familiarity with IEC 62304 and/or IEC 60601 standards.
• Experience using Cognition Cockpit.
