Job Title: Specialist Engineer 4

Location(s): Harleysville, PA

Overview
The Product Certification Specialist provides comprehensive guidance and technical leadership to ensure that all products intended for hazardous locations maintain full compliance with applicable certification standards. This role is responsible for coordinating certification activities, supporting audits, overseeing compliance-related project plans, and advising engineering and operations teams on technical issues that may affect product certification status.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert guidance to internal teams to ensure proper maintenance of product certifications for hazardous locations.
  • Coordinate and host audits conducted by certified bodies and notified organizations.
  • Monitor all relevant product certifications and develop project plans to maintain continuous compliance.
  • Advise on technical issues that could affect ongoing or future product certifications.
  • Serve as a key resource for managing product safety issues and ensuring appropriate escalation and resolution.
  • Deliver technical training to operators, suppliers, and internal teams as needed.
  • Participate in supplier audits, particularly for those with critical certification requirements.
  • Maintain effective relationships with certification agencies and support limited travel requirements for audits or agency visits.

Required Expertise

  • Demonstrated specialization in FM, FM Canada, CSA, and ATEX product certification requirements.
  • Hands-on experience working with notified bodies on certification projects.
  • Familiarity with Canadian CRN registration requirements.
  • Knowledge of relevant European regulations, including REACH and the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED).

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in electronic circuit and PCB design.
  • Understanding of mechanical and electronic testing procedures associated with product certification.
  • Competence in product safety analysis and documentation.

Travel Requirements

  • Limited travel may be required to support supplier audits or visits to certification agencies.
