Job Title: Global ITS Data Center Operator

Location(s): Danbury, CT

Position Overview:
The Data Center / Systems Operations Technician is responsible for ensuring the stability, availability, and performance of critical systems within the data center. This role focuses on systems monitoring, first-level troubleshooting, network availability oversight, job scheduling validation, and operational support activities. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities System Monitoring & Operations
  • Monitor overall systems availability in the data center and escalate system failures to relevant support teams.
  • Oversee Windows Server security patching and perform basic troubleshooting.
  • Perform Windows Server decommissioning activities as required.
  • Configure DHCP reservations for devices.
  • Administer shared folder permissions within a Windows environment.
Service Desk Support & Access Management
  • Monitor and respond to Service Desk tickets via Micro Focus Service Manager.
  • Process LAN ID creation, modification, and termination requests.
  • Maintain accurate records of all LAN ID activities.
  • Execute file restore requests based on user needs.
Backup, Scheduling, & Automation
  • Review and track system backup logs to ensure successful execution.
  • Monitor Tidal Enterprise Scheduler jobs and ensure timely and successful job processing.
  • Utilize PowerShell, VBScript, or similar scripting languages for routine operational automation.
Network Operations & Troubleshooting
  • Monitor network availability as part of Network Operations Center (NOC) responsibilities.
  • Perform first-level network outage checks and preliminary troubleshooting.
  • Use SolarWinds Orion tools for system and network performance monitoring.
Data Center Environment
  • Conduct environmental monitoring and testing, including temperature, power, alarms, and physical infrastructure checks.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to report to work during inclement weather.
  • Hands-on experience with Active Directory.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts.
  • Experience in systems management and systems monitoring.
  • Experience with Tidal Enterprise Scheduler or comparable job scheduling tools.
Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
  • Exposure to enterprise backup tools.
  • Familiarity with data center operations best practices.
  • Experience with incident, problem, or change management frameworks (ITIL).
  • Basic scripting or automation experience beyond introductory level.
Work Environment
  • This role requires on-site presence in the data center environment.
  • May involve occasional off-hours work to support critical incidents or maintenance windows.
