National Grid is hiring a Lead Planner, Capital Project Planning for Massachusetts. This is a Onsite Role - Must live within a commutable distance to Waltham, MA.

Job Purpose

The New England Electric Major Projects team drives project management for major electric capital constructionproject investments, leading the clean energy transformation and significant portfolio growth. Projects includemulti-year complex, large-scale Transmission-Line, Distribution-Line and Substation construction projects alongwith similarly complex project types as part the Electric Sector Modernization Plan (ESMP) and High Voltage DirectCurrent (HVDC) construction. The dedicated Principal Project Manager will oversee and drive major electric capitalconstruction projects, ensuring safe delivery within budget, schedule and scope.

Key Accountabilities
  • Drive best-in-class strategic, critical, and complex electric capital construction projects ensuring safe delivery,within budget, schedule and scope taking proactive measures to mitigate risks and optimize project efficiency.
  • Own decisions in risk management including calculated risks and outcomes.
  • Drive project compliance with internal business management system (BMS) for major projects.
  • Direct siting, permitting, regulatory approvals including intricate cost recovery mechanisms, andcustomer/community commitments.
  • Drive early identification and cross-functional leadership to mitigate emerging issues and drive actionablesolutions.
  • Lead project strategy and update presentations to senior leaders including steering committees.
  • Drive continuous improvement of project management processes, methodologies, and tools.
  • Mentor junior project managers.
  • Provide emergency storm restoration support during weather events.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or other relevant fields, coupled with significant experience inproject management, engineering, contracts, construction, and operations.
  • MBA, Master's degree in engineering, or equivalent qualification preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience within the electric utility sector in one or more of the following areas: projectmanagement, engineering, contracts, construction or operations.
  • PMP / CAPM certification, PE license or other relevant certification preferred.
  • 10+ years of detailed project financial forecasting and reporting.
  • 10+ years of managing, coaching teams and developing employees.
  • 10+ years of experience presenting to executives.
  • Primavera P6, Procore and PowerPlan experience.
  • Microsoft Office, Power BI, SharePoint, Power Point, Excel, Word and MS Teams experience.
  • Valid drivers license.
