About the Job

The School of Dentistry invites applications for a postdoctoral associate to join the laboratory of Dr. Jae Sung Lee. Dr. Lee's laboratory focuses on the development of innovative biomaterials to advance the use of biologically active therapeutics in regenerative medicine. The successful candidate will contribute to multidisciplinary projects at the cutting edge of biomaterials, tissue engineering, and molecular biology. The position is available immediately and goes for one year.

The primary research focus of this position is to develop new bioactive molecules and investigate their roles in the remineralization of enamel and dentin. The successful candidate will also contribute to ongoing research projects within the laboratory.

  • 80% laboratory activity - designing bioactive molecules and evaluating their function in vivo
  • 10% research communication - preparing manuscripts for publication and presenting at scientific conferences
  • 10% mentoring - training graduate and undergraduate students in the laboratory
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent in Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or related field
  • Knowledge in biomaterial design and characterization
  • Strong hands-on instrumentation skills in microscopy and spectroscopy instrumentation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong publication record
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in additive manufacturing and 3D printing

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $61,000 - $65,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience
