Description
The Materials & Fuels Complex (MFC) is seeking a Division Director (DD) to oversee the strategic direction, leadership and management of all Environmental, Safety, Health, and Radiological Controls activities across MFC. The DD is responsible for building multidisciplinary teams with shared goals, accountability and ownership for the INL/MFC mission at all levels in the organization. The DD leads an organization of approximately 175 matrixed staff, department managers, and supervisors across multiple disciplines. This position reports directly to the MFC Associate Laboratory Director (ALD). Responsibilities of the role are:
- Lead continuous improvement in Safety Culture, Just Culture, and Human Performance Improvement Principles (HPI).
- Maximize performance in achievement of Laboratory mission outcomes and milestone commitments while conducting work in compliance with DOE Orders, Federal, State, and local regulations, ESH&Q requirements, and company policies.
- Execute the MFC Management Model and drive continuous improvement in operational activities.
- Closely integrate with the INL ESH&Q directorate to ensure adequate staffing, process improvement and program implementation.
- Develop strategic external and internal communication plans and effectively communicate expectations and objectives to department managers and staff.
- Communicate regularly with Department of Energy-Idaho (DOE-ID), state and local regulators and other key stakeholders.
- Establish operational objectives, policies, procedures, budgets, and work plans, and delegate assignments to subordinates.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Candidates must have a BS Degree or higher in a technical or engineering discipline with 15 yrs. experience working in nuclear or radiological facilities.
- Must be a US Citizen and have the ability and willingness to obtain and maintain an "L" clearance.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a broad spectrum of disciplines in a research and operational environment.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills and enjoy working in a team environment, with collaboration of all levels, disciplines and cultural backgrounds.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred:
- Line Management experience in nuclear or radiological facilities.
- Demonstrated experience driving improvement in ES&H processes or work execution.
- Demonstrated experience leading change in an organization through strategic planning and tactical operations management.
- Recognized leadership in a diverse and complex technical organization.
- Experience with establishing and implementing a safety culture and usage of HPI tools.
Job Information:
- The target pay range for this position is $177,502 - $291,551 annually. The full pay range is $124,848 - $324,600. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
- TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, and work in an office and field/laboratory environment. The job requires hand/finger dexterity to keyboard or type, handle materials, manipulate tools, and reach with hands and arms. The job requires operation of job-related equipment and driving a vehicle. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with people is required.
