This role is based in our New York City office. The International Account Manager plays a critical role in driving customer retention and new business growth for COTERIE, PROJECT & MAGIC through strategic partnerships with international government associations and agents globally. This individual contributor position is responsible for meeting and exceeding revenue targets by developing strong relationships with government trade bodies, international agents, and pavilion organizers to expand our international footprint. A key focus of this role is to ensure exceptional customer experience throughout the sales cycle, fostering long-term partnerships that drive sustained international participation across our portfolio of events. The Account Manager will be tasked with selling across multiple products and revenue streams, targeting international government associations, trade promotion agencies, and authorized agents who facilitate group participation from their respective countries and regions. This individual will work closely with the Head of Sales to implement the international sales strategy, develop new market opportunities, and maximize revenue potential from international exhibitors and visitors. Key Responsibilities:
- Sell across multiple products and revenue streams for our three branded shows, meeting and exceeding assigned monthly and edition sales quotas through international government associations and agent partnerships.
- Work assigned international territories to strategically develop and nurture a robust pipeline of government trade bodies, international agents, and pavilion opportunities to drive sustainable, long-term revenue growth from international markets.
- Implement pipeline management practices to maintain accurate forecasting models that provide leadership with real-time, data-driven insights for international market penetration and strategic business planning.
- Demonstrate excellence in CRM utilization by documenting interactions with government associations, agent partnerships, and international prospect progression within Salesforce to enhance team collaboration and relationship management.
- Consistently achieve and exceed weekly productivity KPIs focused on proactive outreach to international trade bodies, agent recruitment, pavilion development meetings, and follow-up communications to maximize international sales effectiveness.
- Collaborate with the Head of Sales to develop and execute an international sales strategy for assigned territories, including defining government touchpoints, creating customized pavilion packages, and capitalizing on international trade trends.
- Proactively seek out new international business opportunities by leveraging government trade intelligence, attending international trade missions, and performing global market analysis.
- Skillfully negotiate contracts and agreements with government associations and international agents, addressing cultural considerations and regulatory requirements to close deals and maximize international revenue.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key international stakeholders, including trade commissioners, commercial attaches, and authorized agents, ensuring a top-tier experience throughout the partnership cycle.
- Support international market research and opportunity assessments to identify new countries and regions for expansion across our three branded shows.
- Stay updated on international trade policies, government initiatives, and competitive international events to ensure relevance in sales pitches and stakeholder interactions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date international sales pipeline, activity, and stakeholder data within Salesforce to track progress, forecast revenue, and ensure effective follow-up across time zones.
- Work closely with the Head of Sales and relevant teams to monitor key international accounts, pavilion placements, and sales progress across all three branded shows.
- Establish and maintain a strong international presence through regular attendance at trade missions, embassy events, and international trade shows, staying informed on global market trends and government trade initiatives.
- Demonstrate thought leadership by actively participating in international trade discussions and maintaining visibility in global trade promotion circles.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing, operations, and event management, to ensure international customer needs are met and cultural requirements are accommodated across all three shows.
- Support team initiatives, share international market insights, and contribute to a positive, results-driven team culture focused on global expansion.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of sales or business development experience in international trade, government relations, or B2B event sales with international focus. Experience working with government trade bodies or international agents is strongly preferred.
- Strong ability to negotiate effectively across cultures, handle international objections, and close deals with a consultative, value-based approach that respects cultural nuances.
- Demonstrated success in managing and closing high-level international business in a fast-paced, target-driven environment with multiple time zones.
- Creative and analytical thinker, capable of developing tailored solutions for international customers based on their market needs and government trade objectives.
- Ability to think strategically about international market development, manage cross-cultural relationships, and identify new opportunities that drive long-term global business growth.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple international priorities and maintain accountability for personal sales targets across different markets and time zones.
- Ability to work autonomously across international markets, balancing individual responsibilities with team collaboration and cultural sensitivity.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM systems, specifically Salesforce, to manage international sales activities, track stakeholder information, and report on global performance.
- Motivated to continuously learn about international trade policies, cultural business practices, and global market developments to remain competitive in international markets.
- A team-oriented mindset with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams to meet international customer needs and contribute to company-wide global sales objectives.
- Willing and able to travel up to 40% of the time internationally to meet with government stakeholders, attend trade missions, and build international business relationships.
- Language skills are a plus, with preference for candidates who speak additional languages relevant to target markets.
