Job Overview:

The Assistant Director of Surgical Services will work closely with the Chair of Anesthesia, Corporate VP of Anesthesia, and will be accountable to the Director of Surgical Services at Jersey City Medical Center. The scope of this role would include perioperative services, PAT clinic operations and other administrative responsibilities as assigned by the senior leadership overseeing surgical services. This role requires a strategic, project management and operational mindset, ensuring excellence in clinical quality, patient safety, and overall hospital performance while fostering a culture of collaboration and excellences. Relevant experience in project management, departmental operations and continuous performance improvement are required for this position.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Master's degree in healthcare administration, Business Administration, or a related field required
  • Prior experience in project management and data analytics
  • Previous experience in departmental operations or service line experience

Essential Functions:

  • Support the Chair of Anesthesia and departmental faculty with perioperative functions to enhance operating room efficiency and procedural services in inpatient and ambulatory surgery center.
  • Partner with leadership in recruitment efforts to support programmatic growth in alignment with RWJBarnabas Health's system-wide surgical services strategy.
  • Work closely with the senior departmental leadership to optimize quality measures, safety, and regulatory compliance for all surgical services.
  • Facilitate the implementation of policies and procedures to enhance surgical operations and compliance.
  • Support improvement in patient experience and continuous quality improvement initiatives to elevate the standard of care of patients.
  • Provide needed administrative support with daily operations of perioperative services ensuring efficient use of resources and optimal patient flow
  • Ownership of adherence to best practice and regulatory standards
  • Support the implementation of strategic plans for surgical services to enhance, patient outcomes, and overall surgery volume growth
  • Support the Chair of Anesthesia with department budget, financial management, utilization management and effective resource allocation
  • Ownership of data analytics, leveraging information and collaborating with department leadership to optimize processes and enhance patience outcomes in surgical services at JCMC.
  • Responsible for monthly departmental meetings, ownership of key performance indicators, quality measures, and other administrative functions
  • Accountable for recruitment of new providers, credentialing, effective utilization of Locums and addressing staffing queries and issues
  • Manage service contracts, supplies, and maintenance of surgical and anesthesia equipment in collaboration with Biomedical Engineering and Supply Chain
  • Collaborates with physicians, service line leaders, and executive administration to develop polies and achieve shares goals
  • Ability to work and report in a dyad structure is needed for this role.
