Reporting to the Director, Gateway Clearinghouse, the Product Manager (API Developer Experience) will lead product strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of Availity's API developer portal-the central hub for developers and technical healthcare partners integrating with Availity's platform and APIs.This role focuses on creating intuitive, highquality developer-facing experiences, including documentation, testing tools, governance patterns, and selfservice workflows that support healthcare integration teams. The ideal candidate will bring healthcare IT experience, and handson, firstlevel experience building experiences for healthcare IT personas such as developers, architects, and integration engineers. The Product Manager will collaborate with engineering, architecture, compliance, UX, and cross-functional product teams to ensure Availity delivers a modern, scalable, and consistent API experience that accelerates digital connectivity across the healthcare ecosystem.

To be qualified for this position you have:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Product Management within healthcare IT, preferably in:

    • Revenue Cycle Management

    • EDI/clearinghouse

    • Interoperability / API integration - This is required to be considered for the role.

  • Handson, firstlevel experience designing or building experiences for healthcare IT personas, such as developers, integration engineers, and technical implementers.

  • Experience integrating with EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech, Athenahealth, or similar) - including familiarity with workflows, data exchange patterns, and typical integration constraints.

  • Strong familiarity with API architecture, RESTful patterns, authentication, versioning, and lifecycle management. This is required to be considered for the role.

  • Experience with API governance, including:

    • naming & versioning standards

    • schema consistency

    • documentation guidelines

    • policy & security controls

  • Experience defining, building, or managing developer workflows such as:

    • API documentation experiences

    • sandbox/testing tools

    • key/subscription management

    • usage dashboards or reporting

  • Proven ability to create and execute roadmaps, prioritize features, and partner with engineering to deliver solutions.

  • Strong understanding of the Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC).

  • Experience working in matrixed organizations, coordinating across engineering, UX, architecture, operations, and compliance.

  • Strong technical acumen and ability to translate architecture, data flows, and healthcare integration patterns into product requirements.

  • Experience gathering requirements from technical users (developers, architects, integration analysts).

  • Experience with JIRA or similar product management tools.

  • Experience building or managing developer experience (DX) platforms, API hubs, or developer-focused products.

  • Healthcare consulting experience or startup exposure.

  • Experience on the payer or provider side of healthcare technology.

  • Familiarity with API documentation ecosystems.

  • Strong ability to influence without authority and lead through vision and clarity.

  • Passion for clean information architecture, developer tooling, and simplifying complex workflows.

You will be:

  • Defining the product vision and roadmap for Availity's API Developer Portal and related API platform experiences.

  • Creating intuitive tools and workflows that support healthcare developers and integration teams as they discover, test, and adopt Availity's APIs.

  • Ensuring consistency and alignment with API governance standards across API domains and platform teams.

  • Designing experiences tailored to healthcare personas-including EHR integration teams-ensuring the portal meets their real-world needs.

  • Partnering with engineering, architecture, and platform teams to support API standardization, lifecycle management, and documentation excellence.

  • Ensuring developer documentation, quick-start guides, and tutorials are accurate, useful, and aligned to healthcare integration scenarios, including EHR connectivity.

  • Developing clear epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria that translate complex healthcare and technical workflows into actionable development work.

  • Leading the development of operational and adoption metrics to measure API experience performance.

  • Continuously gathering feedback from EHR teams, developers, architects, and platform integrators to drive roadmap improvements.

  • Working cross-functionally across engineering, DevOps, security, compliance, and customer-facing teams to ensure success.

  • Leading product owners and analysts to execute on the developer portal and API platform vision.

  • Conducting market, customer, and competitive research to maintain a bestinclass healthcare API ecosystem.
