Responsibilities:
The Chief Economist leads the company's economic and industry insight team, which tracks the economy, new and used vehicle sales, supply, prices, retail and fleet demand, consumer credit and auto financing, dealer sentiment, and freight trends to understand the key trends impacting car buying, ownership and next life. The Chief Economist is a key member of the strategy leadership team and contributes to the company's fact base and deep expertise in all aspects of the automotive and transportation industries. The Chief Economist is an industry spokesperson and represents the company and our thought leadership to media and clients. This role is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the company's analysis of complex industry, economic and proprietary data from all the company's businesses and platforms. This position will also provide expert guidance to industry associations, clients, and the financial community. The ideal candidate will serve as a spokesperson, support internal and external clients and Cox Automotive's Finance and Strategy groups as well as demonstrate thought leadership in a way that is truly meaningful to the recipient and more compelling than that of our competition. The Chief Economist is responsible for managing the Industry Insights function, which is composed of analysts, economists, and subject matter experts and will also rely heavily on others across a complex matrixed organization for ongoing contributions and support. He or she will leverage strong relationship and influencing skills to ensure production of best-in-class analysis and insights. Additional duties and responsibilities include:
