Department Information
The Georgia Tech Athletic Associate (GTAA) sponsors varsity intercollegiate athletics competition in 17 NCAA Division I sports for the Georgia Institute of Technology. We are a proud member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Job Summary

The Associate Athletic Director for Performance Nutrition is responsible for designing and implementing sports performance and lifestyle nutrition activities to support student-athlete performance. Activities would include consultation in body composition and analysis, supplement intake, and injury recovery. This position would support sport team performance by establishing programing in support of weekly education, cooking classes, and travel nutrition. This position will assist team physicians in recommendations of vitamins, minerals, and supplements for student-athletes that have medical indications. Responsible for setting employee and/or group goals, deciding on organizational structure to meet the goals, assessing employee and/or group performance and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Responsible for recruiting, hiring, scheduling and mentoring of employees, interns, and volunteers

Job Duty 2 -
Provide oversight and supervision of planned and customized snacks for specifically identified teams/athletes

Job Duty 3 -
Partner with the Athletics Association's Food Service Director and other dining associates to provide strategic leadership and oversight of nutritional services

Job Duty 4 -
Negotiate 3rd party contract for food service and supply vendors on behalf of the Association to reduce cost and maintain the approved fiscal year budget

Job Duty 5 -
Partner with onsite dining director to ensure optimal nutritional options are available to student-athletes

Job Duty 6 -
Propose and manage unit budget to ensure proper nutritional needs are meet within the Association

Job Duty 7 -
Plan, develop and manage sustainability initiatives for the Association

Job Duty 8 -
Serves as liaison with campus departments and student groups to assist with on-going vision efforts toward sustainability programs/goals

Job Duty 9 -
Conduct individual medical nutrition therapy for diagnosis such as Ulcerative colitis, Inflammatory bowel disease, Type 1 diabetes, stress fractures/bone health, Celiac disease and other severe food allergies, body composition management and interventions, and eating disorders/disordered eating

Job Duty 10 -
Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Food and Nutrition Sciences or Dietetics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Other Required Qualifications
Certifications or licenses required for this job:
Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Certification/Licensure as required by state of practice

Required Experience
Eight to ten years of job-related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Certifications or licenses preferred:
Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) preferred or encouraged within one year of hire

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's Degree in Nutrition or Exercise Physiology

Preferred Experience
Specific work experience and knowledge as a Sports Dietitian with NCAA Division 1 athletics strongly preferred

ABILITIES
Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively within a multidisciplinary team

KNOWLEDGE
Demonstrated competence in nutrient analysis and meal planning. Must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of safe food service practices. Must possess knowledge of signs and symptoms of eating disorder/disordered eating and be able to make recommendations to the CARE team and the student athlete. Possess a comprehensive knowledge and application of medical nutrition therapy and therapeutic diet planning and implementation.

SKILLS
Self-motivated and the ability to work independently. Possess excellent time management, organizational, and record-keeping skills. Excellent communication, presentation, and counseling skills
