JRAD is seeking candidates for an immediate fill Senior Accountant position supporting business operations. This position is primarily remote with an approximate 20% requirement to be onsite in Washington DC. Candidates must be located within a 25-mile radius of Washington DC to be considered for the position.

The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the organization's financial records. This position is responsible for managing complex accounting tasks, including the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting audit processes. The Senior Accountant will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to provide insightful financial data that supports strategic decision-making. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who can identify discrepancies, implement improvements in accounting processes, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting principles and regulations. Ultimately, the Senior Accountant contributes to the financial health and transparency of the organization by delivering timely and accurate financial information.

Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports to support business planning and decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements and reporting
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of accounting operations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and resolve accounting discrepancies.

Required Skills and Education:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of professional accounting experience in a government contracting environment
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong understanding of accounting for government contract types including CPFF, FFP andT&M
  • Experience reviewing and/or submitting payroll through third party provider
  • Demonstrated use of Deltek's Costpoint project accounting system
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Familiarity with operating in an environment with multiple legal entities
  • Familiarity with Unanet project accounting system
  • Previous experience with financial system implementation a plus
  • Familiarity with tax regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Previous experience in financial auditing or internal controls.
  • Advanced Excel skills including macros, formulas and pivot tables.
