Who we are looking for:

We are currently searching for a Quality Engineer at our Hobart, IN plant. Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer is responsible for development, maintenance, and reporting of the quality process. The position will also be involved in the implementation of new processes and equipment related to the design, material and processes needed to support production. This will include opportunities for continuous improvement, formulating corrective and preventive measures, and working to implement actions to improve quality levels and regulatory compliance. The individual will serve as a change agent and represent the Quality function on assigned project teams. The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Facilitate & participate in concept brainstorming & ideation sessions.
  • Work as a "hands-on" Engineer as related to design, material, or process.
  • Plan and design experiments and conduct data analysis in support product lines.
  • Design and implement test methods and equipment to support product development.
  • Solve complex problems and make sound design recommendations.
  • Provide technical assistance for troubleshooting & diagnosing design and manufacturing quality problems.
  • Create Standard Work documents and help maintain the Controlled Document system.
  • Performs and records First Article Inspections as required.
  • Lead projects across the department as requested.
  • Coordinates with the Value Stream Manager to develop and conduct training on quality. standards, measurement devices, quality alerts, procedure changes, etc.
  • Assists in process improvement efforts by working with Process Engineers to identify, implement and validate process changes.
  • Research future concepts within the market including the monitoring of technology trends.
  • Drive Lean Methodology within the Atkore Business System.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering or related field required with 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced data analytic and computer system skills required.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent computer skills with the use of Windows Applications: Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint & Word.
  • Proven problem-solving mindset and creativity skillset.


In 3 months:



  • Complete your new hire immersion.
  • Develop relationships with the key stakeholders for this role.
  • Learn about our products and customers.
  • Familiarize yourself with inspection methods and inspection tools.


In 6 months:



  • Gain an understanding of the current Quality Procedures.
  • Partner with Quality Manager to identify short- and long-term process improvement ideas.
  • Participate in problem solving events.
  • Identify ways to strengthen the team's commitment to Atkore's core values.


In 12 months:



  • Create, update, and share Work Instructions and Procedures.
  • Lead problem solving events.
  • Lead lean initiatives to drive process improvements.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $72,160 - $99,220. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
