About the Job

The University of Minnesota Rochester (www.r.umn.edu) invites applications for a non-tenure track, annually renewable faculty position in mathematics for its undergraduate degree program, the Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences (BSHS). The position is primarily teaching-focused with the expectation of contributing to departmental and institutional service (90% teaching, 10% service).

We are seeking a qualified instructor who has significant interest in supporting student learning in a high-contact model inside and outside of the classroom and will work closely with other faculty to coordinate and teach the range of mathematics and statistics courses needed by students in the BSHS program. The successful instructor will have experience in implementing pedagogical strategies and supporting a diverse student body population. The instructor must be prepared to teach undergraduate introductory mathematics and statistics courses with a preference for ability to also teach undergraduate biomathematics.

Duties include assisting preparation and delivery of course content in interactive learning classrooms, grading, holding weekly student support hours in Just ASK spaces (https://r.umn.edu/academics-research/academic-resources/just-ask), supervising undergraduate teaching assistants, facilitating department-wide data collection efforts that coincide with course delivery duties, and other related duties as assigned.

The instructor will join the Center for Learning Innovation (CLI), an innovative, interdisciplinary department. The CLI coordinates the development and teaching of an integrated, writing-enriched curriculum for a baccalaureate degree in the health sciences. It promotes a learner-centered, undergraduate environment in which ongoing assessment informs pedagogical and curricular choices and is the basis for data-driven research on learning.

Continuing professional development participation is expected from the instructor and there will be opportunities to attend conferences, workshops, online tutorials, and to join professional development opportunities, and/or membership in professional organizations.

This role is expected to work in-person in Rochester, Minnesota. This role is not eligible for H-1B or Green Card sponsorship. This position is contingent upon enrollment.
