The UCPath Center is the University of California's shared services center in Riverside, CA. The UCPath Center manages the payroll, benefits, and other human resources transactions for more than 230,000 UC employees working across ten UC campuses, six medical centers, three national labs and more. POSITION SUMMARY
Under general supervision, the Senior Data Analyst will utilize advanced analytics tools and techniques to extract actionable insights from complex metrics, facilitating informed decision-making and process optimization. They will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of data analytics principles and, along with proficient troubleshooting skills, the Senior Data Analyst showcases excellent attention to detail to ensure precise and reliable data analysis. They will play a crucial role in data management, reporting, analysis, and visualization across various functional areas. The Senior Data Analyst leverages a blend of technical expertise and sound judgment to effectively utilize skills in driving organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • 20% Create and maintain reports containing formulas, multiple tables, and tailored functions utilizing PeopleSoft Query, SQL, and other UCPath Center reporting tools.
  • 20% Update existing metric dashboards and analyze new data to call out developing trends or anomalies. Develop new dashboards and generate reports tailored to meet customer requirements.
  • 10% Engage in collaborative efforts with other departments to identify metric needs or resolve issues as necessary.
  • 15% Test and evaluate data information and reconcile any differences from expected results.
  • 15% Lead complex analysis efforts and identify meaningful correlations to translate into actionable insights.
  • 20% Ensure stakeholders across UCPath and the University of California receive quality, performance, and compliance data promptly through various reporting mediums. Respond to user ad-hoc requests for data, advising and assisting with options for providing relevant information.

Skills and Abilities
Required Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Advanced Excel capabilities with expertise in use of modeling, what-if analyses, pivot tables, look-up functions, advanced formulas, macros, etc.
  • Experience utilizing, analyzing, and reporting data from various source systems, such as PeopleSoft, Salesforce, CRM, contact center systems, etc.
  • Proficient in creating interactive visualizations, dashboards, and reports using Tableau Desktop and publishing them to Tableau Server for collaborative analysis.
  • Proficient in writing and executing SQL queries and scripts using SQL Server Management Studio or SQL Developer for data retrieval, manipulation, and analysis.
  • Ability to learn new analytical tools for process mining, analytics, and optimization, enabling efficient analysis and improvement of business processes.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, enabling effective interaction with stakeholders and other business users, with a demonstrated ability to communicate complex data concepts clearly and understandably.
  • Ability to effectively manage competing and changing priorities to meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Python programming language for data analysis and automation tasks for advanced analytics and visualization.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

The University of California, Office of the President, is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range shows the growth potential for this position and the pay scale is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This position will work in a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at UCPath in Riverside and remote in California.
