STS Technical Services is hiring experienced A&P Licensed Avionics Technicians to support aircraft maintenance operations in Waco, Texas. This role is ideal for avionics professionals who bring strong troubleshooting skills, regulatory discipline, and hands-on experience working with complex aircraft electronic systems.

As an Avionics A&P Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining aircraft safety, reliability, and FAA compliance while working closely with maintenance leadership and aircraft leads.


Position Overview

The Avionics A&P Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and installing aircraft electronic systems in accordance with approved technical data, customer requirements, and applicable FAA regulations.

This position reports to the Director of Maintenance and requires appropriate certification and authorization to sign off work in compliance with FAR Part 65 and customer work package requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, repair, and install aircraft avionics systems including communication, navigation, radar, flight control, and autopilot systems
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and isolate complex electronic system malfunctions and perform corrective actions
  • Perform scheduled maintenance, alterations, and repairs using manufacturer manuals, service bulletins, airworthiness directives, and internal procedures
  • Install avionics systems, wiring, and components in accordance with approved drawings, technical specifications, and schematics
  • Use Illustrated Parts Manuals (IPC) to identify required parts and components
  • Perform post-maintenance operational checks and testing using specialized avionics test equipment
  • Calibrate electronic systems to ensure proper operation prior to return to service
  • Accurately document inspections, maintenance, repairs, and installations in accordance with regulatory and customer requirements
  • Properly record and sign for work performed in compliance with FARs, customer processes, and company procedures
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas and return signed-out tools at the end of each shift
  • Follow all safety policies, training requirements, and operational procedures
  • Operate only equipment for which authorization and training have been completed
  • Comply with FAA and DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements, including random testing

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of avionics maintenance experience, with 10 or more years preferred
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate or Repairman Certificate in accordance with FAR Part 65
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical and electronic principles
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Proficiency with hand tools and avionics test equipment
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail with a commitment to aircraft safety and quality
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet production schedules
  • Associate degree or technical certificate in avionics, electronics, or a related field preferred
  • Military avionics training and experience considered a strong plus
  • Hands-on experience with Boeing 767, 747, 737 and or Airbus A340, A330 aircraft preferred
