DESCRIPTION Perform journey-level tasks in high voltage distribution and maintenance to modify, repair, install and alter medical center electrical systems, equipment and components such as: motors and motor controllers, watt-hour meters, lighting systems, control devices, high voltage switches and cables; transformers, lightening arresters and conductors. Test, troubleshoot and locate electrical malfunctions using appropriate test instruments. Assist with electrical construction jobs to maintain or improve campus systems. Provide expeditious, professional and courteous customer service. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must hold valid driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/ procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program. Possess a certificate of completion of a recognized apprenticeship or accredited trade school or the equivalent amount of experience and training in OSHA, NFPA Code 70E, ARC Flash Training and/or comparable to journey level crafts status as a High Voltage Electrician. Knowledge of electrical theory and terminology. Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the maintenance, repair, and testing of high and medium voltage overhead and underground systems, and associated equipment. Knowledge of safety and safe working practices pertaining to high voltage electrical work, including ensuring clearances, and working on energized lines and equipment. Knowledge of laws, codes and regulations pertaining high voltage electrical work, including NEC, IEEE, GO 95, and 128. Knowledge of mathematics used in electrical calculations including algebra. Skill in performing repairs, fabrication, operations and maintenance of medium and high voltage electrical systems and associated equipment. Skill in using testing equipment, and troubleshooting complex electrical problems and develop effective resolutions. Skill in operating and maintaining tools and equipment of the trade. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work such as customers, project managers, inspectors, and other crafts, including assisting others and working cooperatively. Skill in maintaining records related to work performed including use of computers. Skill in reading and interpreting plans, diagrams, drawings, instructions, and related technical materials. Skill in planning and directing the work of semi-skilled and apprentice. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Healthcare Environment Experience. SPECIAL CONDITIONS Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical. Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $111,604 - $111,604 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $53.45 - $53.45 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
