The University of Arizona's Department of Physics invites you to apply to the role of Research Professional II. The incumbent will be responsible for fabricating devices consisting of low dimensional materials and measuring them with near-field scanning optical microscopy. Will write results as a paper that will be submitted to a scientific journal.


This is a temporary appointment tied to a project expected to last approximately 100 days and is not anticipated to be extended.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Operate the scanning near-field optical microscope to probe the optical properties of low-dimensional materials.
  • Fabricate samples using mechanical exfoliation, atomic force microscopy, and polymer stacking procedures.
  • Revise and submit publications based on the work being performed as part of the position. This includes performing additional measurements to answer questions from reviewers.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
