Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Data Center Technician to support the installation, configuration, and maintenance of fiber optic and structured cabling infrastructure within dynamic data center environments. This role involves hands-on technical work including fiber termination, testing, rack and stack activities, and interpreting construction documents for infrastructure builds. The position requires strict adherence to safety protocols, clear and professional communication, and the physical capability to perform demanding tasks in various work conditions. Candidates must have a minimum of two years of relevant data center and fiber experience. Job Responsibilities
Perform cable infrastructure installation and fiber rough-in activities.
Manage cable dressing, routing, and labeling to industry standards.
Terminate copper and fiber connections accurately and efficiently.
Install and configure single-mode and multi-mode fiber, including ST, LC, SC, and SC-APC connectors.
Conduct Fluke and OTDR testing and document results.
Troubleshoot and resolve fiber-related connectivity issues.
Rack and stack customer equipment according to specifications.
Build server racks and implement rack elevations.
Install fiber trays, ladder racks, cabinets, and customer equipment.
Complete infrastructure installations, including cable management systems, fiber tray systems, ladder racks, and power trays.
Receive materials and assemble required hardware.
Perform Outside Plant (OSP) work by routing fiber into the data center as required.
Read, interpret, and follow blueprints and technical drawings.
Communicate professionally with team members and management, both verbally and in writing.
Follow all safety guidelines and protocols, including proper PPE usage, jobsite cleanup, and OSHA compliance.
Job Requirements
High school diploma or GED equivalency.
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Data Center Technician.
Minimum of 2 years of hands-on fiber installation and maintenance experience.
OSHA 10 certification preferred.
Ability to work on ladders and scissor lifts, in confined spaces, and in active data center environments.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds as required.
Ability to stand for the duration of the shift.
Ownership and use of basic hand tools, including a multi-bit screwdriver, tape measure, snips, needle-nose pliers, channel-lock pliers, punch-down tool, flashlight, tool pouch, gloves, and steel-toe or composite-toe work boots.
