Overview

AmTrust North America, Inc. is seeking a full-time para-legal for its Litigation Department. This position will support the Litigation Department with a primary focus on commercial litigation and litigation arising out of the Specialty Risk Division of AmTrust. The Paralegal will maintain a solid understanding of AmTrust's mission, vision, and values and uphold the standards of the AmTrust organization.



Responsibilities

    New matter creation in the case management platform (Litify).
  1. Management of engagements of outside professionals and service providers.
  2. Draft and circulate litigation hold notices and removal of hold notices at the conclusion of matters.
  3. Handle payments made in connection with litigation expenses including fees for attorneys, experts and vendors.
  4. Bill review and payment processing.
  5. Work with Treasury to issue and properly account to for settlement payments.
  6. Realtime updating of existing matters in case management platform.
  7. Realtime updating of Quarterly Litigation Log Reporting to Accounting Dept.
  8. Maintain and update litigation calendar.
  9. Prepare for and attend mediations with outside counsel.
  10. Maintain and update case files for all litigation records (pleadings, discovery, motions, correspondence, etc.) within case specific files on SharePoint.
  11. Coordinate and assist with discovery demands and responses to discovery.
  12. Assist in-house counsel and outside counsel with discovery.
  13. Assist with governmental investigations and inquiries.
  14. Work with the subpoena response group to locate and collect information when additional assistance is needed.


Qualifications

  1. Coordinate with Specialty Risk client managers, claims professionals and outside counsel to track all legal demands and complaints (with special attention given to those matters in which an AmTrust company is directly named or involved).
  2. Assist in the review and interpretation of warranty contracts and indemnification clauses.
  3. Draft and send demands for defense and indemnification to Third Party Administrators.
  4. Coordinate with internal claims teams to track and ultimately resolve disputes on acceptable terms.
  5. Draft settlement agreements and work with Treasure to timely pay and account for settlement payments.
  6. Liaise with internal claims teams, external counsel, and third-party administrators to support litigation discovery.
  7. Perform other functionally related duties as assigned

The expected salary range for this role is $24.00-$43.00/hr.
