SUMMARY:
Reports to the Clinical Director of assigned residential facility. Responsible for the administrative and clinical supervision of program based online residential care counselor staff on a 24-hour basis. Provides implementation and supervision of the individual behavior treatment plan and of the behavioral management of the program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Consistently applies the corporate values of respect, honesty and fairness and the constant pursuit of excellence in improving the health status of the people of the region through the provision of customer-friendly, geographically accessible and high-value services within the environment of a comprehensive integrated academic health system. Is responsible for knowing and acting in accordance with the principles of the Brown University Health Corporate Compliance Program and Code of Conduct.Strictly adheres to the hospitals Mission Critical Competency Values and associated behavioral expectations.Creates and supports of a workplace culture of safety, including team approaches to patient safety, an atmosphere which promotes reporting of safety incidents, and which places focus on staffing, communication, and prevention of adverse outcomes.Supports the hospital wide patient safety program in all areas, especially those identified by the National Quality Forum report on safe practice in healthcare. Key areas include safe medication use, access to clear clinical information by all providers, and infection control practices.Manages personnel actions including, but not limited to hiring, orientations, performance appraisals, promotions, scheduling, counsels staff and conducts formal discipline processes.Collaborates in the development, implementation and evaluation of learning opportunities and skill development for all staff.Promotes education for patients and patient families.Participates in direct care activities as a targeted strategy for role modeling and information gathering.Exhibits knowledge of current Joint Commission, DCYF and RI DDD (Division of Developmental Disabilities) requirements, and is responsible for program compliance.Intervenes to manage complex milieu patient care problems utilizing the least restrictive, safe patient care alternative.Provides direct training to all new residential care counselors. Assures all orientations are completed on time. Coaches senior staff to assist in resident orientation. Assures the completion of all required certifications and LMS (Brown University Health Learning Management System) courses with residential care counselors by due dates.Demonstrates leadership to residential care counselors by following policies, procedures and guidelines consistently. Exhibits ability as a role model by mastering the skills of the job, using good judgment, showing initiative and self-discipline. Displays leadership skills by communicating the views of team members to the Clinical Manager and hospital administration and also representing the views of administration to team members.Facilitates monthly staff meetings to ensure effective communication, problem solving, program updates and planning.The Residential Care Supervisor is the individual primarily responsible for the management of the physical plant/facility.Communicates significant clinicaldministrative findings related to patient care to the Clinical Director or program nursing supervisor immediately.Effectively coordinates staffing for residents' medical appointments by ensuring staff awareness and assigning staff as needed. Supports on-line staff to develop and maintain patient advocacy role.Assists Residential Care Counselors in career development by collaboratively establishing quarterly objectives using the "Mission Critical Competency" coaching template.Communicates the expectation that child-care psychiatric services will be provided in accordance with hospital/department policy.Effectively develops and ensures follow-through in daily routines and protocols to ensure structure and consistency for residents.Supervises and participates in the development of competency of staff in the areas of medication administration, dietary goals, and wellness care.Provides family members with timely and accurate information related to events and activities.Participates in clinical rounds and Residential Treatment Team as scheduled.Develops, supports and implements Individual Support Plans (when applicable for adult residents).Coordinates, supports and ensures implementation of prescribed therapy services.Provides opportunity for community integration through planning, coordinating and supporting opportunities for integration. Maintains a current awareness of on-line clinical abilities, experience and skills of each milieu therapist staff member. Monitors seclusion/restraint events to gain knowledge of patient/staff patterns and brings to attention of treatment team.Oversees off-campus therapeutic activities by gaining approval of and coordinating the event according to program policy and procedures.Facilitates community engagement programs (i.e., RISD, PC, URI, Home Depot).Provides on-call coverage during weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Effectively manages and monitors cash expenditures for program which include household Petty Cash flow, and reimbursement procedures.Provides on-call coverage during weekdays, weekends, and holidays. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE_EDUCATIOON:Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services field.BCBA and or LBA preferred.Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.EXPERIENCE:Minimum three years of progressive clinical experience in psychiatric child care; two years of which was practiced in a therapeutic community milieu setting. Two years of demonstrated leadership skills and supervisory potential.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITYupervises up to 12 FTEs.

Pay Range:

$57,340.19-$94,602.87
