Schedule: Evening Shift | 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM | Three 8-hour shifts per week

Position Summary

MaineHealth is seeking a Nursing Unit Secretary to support our P2C Unit, an 18-bed medical telemetry inpatient unit. In this essential role, you will serve as the central communication hub for the unit-supporting clinical staff, greeting patients and visitors, coordinating information flow, and helping ensure the unit operates smoothly and efficiently.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment and enjoys being a key part of a collaborative care team.

Schedule Details

• Evening shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM

• Three 8-hour shifts per week (24 hours total)

• Rotating schedule

  • Self-scheduling is utilized, with staff rotating priority for sign-ups during each scheduling block

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary communication point for the unit

• Greet and assist patients, families, and visitors

• Answer phones and manage call systems

• Coordinate information between nursing staff, providers, and ancillary departments

• Maintain accurate unit records and documentation

• Support daily unit operations to promote efficient patient care

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

1. Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.
2. License/Certifications: Current BLS certification preferred or may be required based on location.
3. Experience: One year of hospital or health care setting preferred.
