About The Role

POSITION SUMMARY

Guaranty Bank and Trust is seeking a Full-Time Commercial Portfolio Manager to serve as the primary credit and portfolio support partner to a Commercial Loan Officer. This role is critical to delivering responsive, well-structured commercial lending solutions while maintaining strong credit quality and regulatory compliance.

The Commercial Portfolio Manager works closely with loan officers, credit leadership, and operations to analyze credit requests, manage existing loan portfolios, and ensure timely, accurate underwriting and ongoing monitoring. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented, analytically driven professional who values collaboration, accountability, and relationship-based banking.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Credit Analysis & Underwriting Support

  • Serve as the primary credit support resource for assigned Commercial Loan Officer(s).
  • Analyze new and existing commercial credit relationships and provide recommendations on structure, terms, covenants, and risk ratings.
  • Prepare comprehensive Credit Approval Memorandums (CAM) for commercial borrowers, including large and complex credit requests.
  • Evaluate borrower and guarantor financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, global debt service coverage, and liquidity.
  • Review third-party reports including appraisals, environmental reports, business valuations, and credit bureau reports.

Portfolio Management & Monitoring

  • Manage an assigned commercial loan portfolio, including covenant tracking, borrowing base analysis, annual reviews, and past-due monitoring.
  • Perform periodic portfolio reviews based on risk grade, exposure size, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proactively identify emerging risks and partner with loan officers to recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure accurate risk ratings and ongoing compliance with loan policy and regulatory standards.

Relationship & Internal Collaboration

  • Work directly with commercial customers, as needed, to clarify financial information and support loan requests.
  • Partner closely with Commercial Loan Officers to deliver timely, high-quality credit decisions and customer solutions.
  • Coordinate with internal teams including Credit Administration, Loan Operations, Treasury, and Compliance throughout the loan lifecycle-from origination through closing and servicing.
  • Assist in training and mentoring new employees and supporting team knowledge-sharing.

Policy, Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure all credit activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Guaranty Bank and Trust and Glacier Bank policies and procedures.
  • Participate in periodic reviews of lending policies, procedures, and portfolio management practices; recommend enhancements as appropriate.
  • Prepare and distribute portfolio, risk, and management reports as requested.
  • Complete all required regulatory and compliance training.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in special lending-related projects, portfolio initiatives, and internal meetings as assigned.

About You

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in commercial credit analysis, portfolio management, or commercial banking.
  • nCino experience preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong working knowledge of commercial loan structures, financial analysis, and cash flow underwriting.
  • Proficiency in financial statement spreading and global cash flow analysis.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and financial models.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and communicate credit risk clearly and concisely.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative mindset with a strong commitment to relationship-based banking.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Starting salary is dependent upon relevant experience and may vary based on the geographic location of the position. We offer an extensive benefits package that includes, but is not limited to medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. PTO accruals begin at .0745 per hour worked for our part time employees up to a maximum accrual of 240 hours per year for certain Full-Time employees. Most Full-Time employees are also offered 6 paid holidays and Part Time employees are offered pro-rated paid holidays.
