THE ROLE:

We are looking for a dynamic, energetic SOC Validation Engineer to join our growing Systems Validation Integration and Platform (SVIP) team and show case your expertise in Silicon Validation! Our team plays a critical role in ensuring the quality of AMD's next-generation FPGA and SoC products. As an experienced validation engineer, you'll work alongside experienced team members to validate cutting-edge technology through hands-on pre-silicon and post-silicon testing, debugging, and characterization.

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate is a highly analytical and meticulous problem-solver with a strong sense of ownership and a proactive approach to ensuring product quality. The candidate should possess excellent attention to detail and natural curiosity to investigate and understand complex system level interactions. You are a strong communicator who can effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architecture, design, verification, platform and IP vendors to drive issues to resolution. You are organized and results-oriented, capable of managing multiple tasks and delivering to deadlines. Furthermore, you demonstrate a continuous learning mindset, staying updated with the latest validation methodologies and technologies. Your ability to influence without direct authority and advocate for rigorous validation practices is crucial for success in this role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Driving technical innovation to improve AMD's capabilities across SoC validation, including tool and script development, technical and procedural methodology enhancement, and various internal and cross-functional technical initiatives.
  • Own the creation of comprehensive test plans and detailed test cases based on product requirements and specifications. Manage and execute the overall test plan, ensuring timely and efficient completion.
  • Systematically collect, analyze, and report failure data. Collaborate closely with the CFT teams to identify root causes, drive issue closure, and verify fixes.
  • Ensure the test plan features are covered in both pre-silicon and post-silicon.
  • Support post-silicon bring-up activities and system-level testing.
  • Provide technical assistance in debugging critical issues, performing root cause analysis, and contributing to timely resolutions.
  • Working with multiple teams, and tracking test execution to make sure all features are validated and optimized on time.
  • Working closely with supporting technical teams
  • Engaging in other software/hardware modeling frameworks
  • Leading collaborative approach with multiple teams
  • Proactively influence engineering efforts to incorporate robust validation practices and drive a culture of quality throughout the development process.
  • Research, evaluate, and implement new and improved test methodologies and tools to optimize our validation processes.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Hands on experience in pre-silicon validation using FPGA-based prototyping and emulation platforms
  • Hands on experience in post silicon validation using characterization boards, customer boards
  • Programming/scripting skills (e.g., C, Perl, Python)
  • Knowledge of system architecture, technical debug, and validation strategies for ARM and X86 architectures
  • Experience with silicon and board bring up activities
  • Coursework or projects involving FPGAs, embedded systems, or SoC design
  • Experience with board/platform-level debug, protocol level debug is must. Knowledge of AXI, CHI protocols will be added advantage
  • Extensive experience with common lab equipment, including protocol/logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc
  • Experience with multimedia IP's is an added advantage
  • Understanding of operating systems (Linux preferred)
