Department Overview

Gas Operations oversees the natural gas transmission and distribution operations. The team maintains and operates 6,700 miles of gas transmission pipeline, 43,000 miles of distribution main, 3.6 million gas services, three PG&E-owned storage facilities with 102 BCF capacity, nine compressor stations with 175K HP, and 5,000 measurement and control facilities. Gas Operations is comprised of approximately 6,000 coworkers.

Position Summary

Conducts Operator Qualification (OQ) evaluations for employees in designated technical roles to verify skill proficiency and uphold both public and employee safety. Oversees the facilitation and administration of a variety of tests and assessments to ensure Gas Operations personnel are performing their tasks accurately and safely in compliance with Code of Federal Regulations.

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time ofthe job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individualwill be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications,experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.Although we estimatethe successful candidate hiredinto this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decisionwill be made on a case-by-casebasis related to these factors.

The hourly rate for this position ranges from:

Bay Area Minimum: $50.48
Bay Area Maximum: $81.25

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Proctors Gas OQ evaluations per Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 49.192 (N) and GO112. Qualification evaluations will focus on a specific areas of knowledge, skills, and ability. Work may involve cutting, grinding, and use of hydraulic press to perform destructive testing of plastic fusions.
  • Evaluates the execution and administration of initial and followup complex, nonroutine exams-including written and computerbased qualification tests, as well as field evaluations-to verify knowledge, skills, and the application of new or advanced techniques.
  • Evaluates the preparation of employees for the entire qualification process, both written/computer testing and field observations, through effective communication and tail boarding. Ensures employees understand the purpose and process.
  • Addresses gaps and issues identified to improve evaluations, tools, processes, and/or materials.
  • Ensures the evaluation/qualification processes are followed and qualification records are maintained in compliance with qualification program requirements.
  • Contributes to the enhancement of new evaluation/qualification tests and processes. Collaborates with stakeholder groups to ensure appropriate process/asset recommendations are being implemented and maintained.
  • Mentors less experienced team members.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
  • Job-related technical experience, 5 years
  • Ability to travel up to 80 percent.
  • Ability to lift up to 80lbs

Desired:

  • BA/BS degree in engineering or other technical discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Strong knowledge in technical discipline for which incumbent is providing evaluations
  • Thorough understanding of specific work methods and procedures, including all safety practices.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to effectively coach and provide feedback.
  • Leadership and collaboration skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP skills.
  • Knowledge of Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 49.192 (N) and GO112.
