Please note, as of 01/08/2026, the Payroll Title for this position has been updated to: Health Sciences Administrator 2 (Title Code 005635) The Administrative Vice Chair (AdVC) will serve as a partner to the Chair in the administrative and business operations-business development and growth of the Department of Radiology within the UC San Diego School of Medicine. The position will have a direct reporting line to the Department Chair. The AdVC is responsible for the overall leadership and management of all administrative activities in the Department including: general department administration, financial administration, academic personnel and salary administration, human resources functions, sponsored projects administration including all grants and contracts, clinical trials, human and animal subjects protocol, space and facilities management, program planning, and credentialing matters. Partners with management to make enhancements to the Clinical Program, with the goal of improving service and generating revenue, as well as the development and implementation of new programs, including development of the business plans, funding models, and institutional participation. The AdVC will have indirect reporting line to the Senior Director of Imaging Services for the Health System on clinical mission activities including both Health System and non-Health System ventures and indirect reporting line to the Associate Dean for Business Affairs, School of Medicine for academic and research mission based activities. The AdVC will represent the Chair and will act as a liaison with top administration and professionals in the exploration and discussion of issues. The AdVC manages strategic and operational planning as well as ongoing operations for the Department of Radiology. The incumbent provides management of related professional staff and their associated allied health professionals and trainees. The AdVC establishes service, productivity and cost standards and goals consistent with the overall goals and objectives of the health system strategic plan. Position ensures quality, efficiency and continuity of services for all related functions and ensures services are designed to meet the needs of patients, providers, and staff. The AdVC plans and executes strategic measures to manage growth and resources. Understands and maintains regulatory compliance; and formulates and administers departmental policies and procedures. The AdVC works closely with senior staff to acquire and manage resources and infrastructure necessary to adequately support the teaching, research and service missions. Position is responsible for seeking opportunities in revenue generating services. Sets and guides priorities, and coordinates interrelated projects among functional areas. Participates with other higher-level managers to establish strategic plans and objectives. Makes decisions on operational matters and ensures achievement of objectives for a large college or operating unit with a direct impact on a major segment of the organization, or with significant multi-organizational or multi-institutional influence. Reviews and approves recommendations for operational planning and control. Erroneous decisions will have serious impact on the overall success of the department, division and/or the organization. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $149,700 - $297,700 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $71.70 - $142.58 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable). | |
