DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will be responsible for operating heavy construction equipment to complete agency in-house construction projects in support of all Bureaus within the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC). This includes buildings, dams, access areas, state fish hatcheries, marinas, roads, and bridges while using track excavators, track loaders, rubber tire loaders, dozers, graders, backhoes, gradall, and vibratory drum rollers. Work involves operating a tractor trailer to transport equipment to the projects sites; ensuring loads are properly secured and of legal limit, including overweight/size permits; and obeying all traffic laws. You will be responsible for servicing construction equipment and vehicles, including safety pre-trip and post-trip inspection, lubrication, oil change/servicing, tires, brake adjustment, track adjustment, and miscellaneous repairs. In addition to operating heavy equipment, you will also be for performing a variety of labor type duties.

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Based on seasons and needs, this position may qualify to work an alternate work schedule (AWS).
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience or training.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be willing to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six months of employment.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Possession of a current Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) which is not under suspension
- Ability to transport truck, trailer, and equipment up to 133,000 pounds gross weight
