When Amplify creates educational programs, we assemble educators, writers, and instructional designers and invite them to join forces with learning scientists, innovative software teams, designers, and artists to put together a truly impactful English Language Arts curriculum that will engage today's students and teachers.

Lead Content and Instructional Specialists work closely with ELA 6-12 leadership to develop a deep understanding of the program pedagogy, content architecture, and instructional framework in order to develop deeply engaging and effective content and instructional support for grades 6-8 that bring those frameworks to life. They lend their expertise to a variety of projects, including digital and print development, ELA and ELD materials, reviewing and writing content and collateral. They often act as lead authors and reviewers in developing lessons that challenge students to read deeply, think critically, and develop and extend their ideas in writing, discussion, projects, and presentations. They may work on alignments and documentation, including critical standards alignment projects. They support teams in areas of strong need where those needs align with their experience and expertise. They consistently support teams to produce high quality content, providing clear feedback and drafting and refining content themselves to ensure that the program and its collateral meet the high quality customers expect from Amplify.

Essential Responsibilities:

Lesson and curricular material development

  • Take a lead role in developing materials that reflect a deep understanding of all aspects of the Amplify ELA/ ELD 6-8 program's pedagogy, instructional framework, design vision, and product tools. Ensure drafted content meets identified criteria through supporting all stages of content development including Drafting outlines, providing feedback for curriculum writers, and, as needed, writing and revising lesson content.

  • Focus on deep dives into texts to identify and curate key sections that will productively drive student engagement and understanding of critical literacy skills and themes

  • Work independently on designated projects related to a particular content area such as standard alignment, lesson differentiation, adoption criteria, etc.

Lead content development

  • Work closely with cross functional teams to coordinate content development that supports digital and print users, meets universal design criteria, allows participation of a large variety of students. variety of students

  • Lead curriculum writers to understand needed criteria, incorporate feedback, and meet established deadlines.

  • Provide ongoing direction and feedback to content writers, producers, editors, designers, and vendors to ensure content meets quality, engagement, and consistency standards and reflects the program vision

Support State and District Adoption Bids

  • Take a lead role preparing bid requirements such as criteria maps, implementation guides, content citations, etc.

  • Collaborate with ELA and ELD leadership to develop solutions and prepare citations for critical adoption criteria.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of education experience in secondary education (grades 6-12) with strong content background in literary genres and critical analysis;

  • Bachelor's degree in English or Humanities field and/or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Experience creating challenging and engaging lessons/curricula in a team environment

  • Experience with educational publishing or with creating standards-aligned curricula that integrate different genres, digital technology, and media

  • Experience working with UDL curricula and materials to support language learners and students with diverse educational needs.

  • Broad knowledge of secondary literacy education and research

  • Demonstrated writing skills

  • Strong analytic reading and thinking skills

  • Strong communication skills and the experience that illustrates an ability to provide clear and useful feedback to others-particularly about written content

  • Team leadership experience

  • Acute attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in a literature or education-related field

  • Experience teaching to and supporting a diverse range of learners, particularly language learners

  • Knowledge of state adoption and standard alignment processes

  • Background that includes identifying, implementing and refining effective engagement and literacy instructional strategies in the classroom.

  • Willingness to try out new ideas with real teachers and students and return to the drawing board if needed

  • Strong familiarity with a range of technology

Compensation:

The hourly rate range for this role is $50 - $55.
