Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively looking for a Mid Level Traffic Engineer to join our Atlanta (Mid Town or Peachtree Corners) office. This is a significant opportunity for a highly-technical individual to work with a growing team in Atlanta! As the successful new hire, you will perform project engineering, design, planning, and computations that include: maintenance of traffic (MOT); traffic signing; traffic signals; pavement markings; lighting design; geometric design; traffic forecasting; and design of transportation improvements while coordinating with other technical departments.

As the ideal candidate, you will have 6 to 10 years of experience working on traffic operations projects (ideally with Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT)). You will be comfortable performing technical tasks, mentoring employees, and interested in client interaction. You will work with Moffatt & Nichol managers and project-oriented multidisciplinary teams!

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Perform project engineering, design, planning, and computations that include: maintenance of traffic (MOT); traffic signing; traffic signals; pavement markings; lighting design; geometric design; traffic forecasting; and design of transportation improvements
  • Contribute to projects that include the final design and preparation of plans, specifications and studies associated with traffic analysis
  • Review plans prepared by others
  • Plan and organize technical project assignments
  • Prepare technical reports and direct interface with clients
  • Travels periodically to work site and other project-related locations
  • Collaborate with managers and teams to complete projects on time and on budget
  • Coordinate design activities and meetings between design staff, subcontractors, and client managers
  • Participate in project management decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling performance
  • Identify schedule and cost variances and develop and implement recommendations for corrective action when needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Transportation; required
  • Master's degree in Traffic/Transportation Engineering; preferred
  • 6 to 10 years of years of progressive experience in Traffic Engineering; required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Georgia or the ability to obtain via reciprocity within 6 months of hire
  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE); preferred
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation); required
  • Availability and willingness to travel
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171
  • Moffatt & Nichol uses E-Verify and employment is contingent upon the legal ability to obtain employment in the U.S. and to present the required documentation at hire
