Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of facilities management experience; OR six (6) years of facilities management experience; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.



Job Summary

Manages one or more larger athletic facilities or fields. Plans and manages the scheduling of all events and programs for the facilities and game operations. Serves as the on-site facilities and game operation manager for all outsourced services and rental events and for assigned intercollegiate events. Serves as a game management administrator at designated athletic events.

  • Plans and schedules all maintenance, repair work, and upgrades for assigned facilities.
  • Assists with the coordination of on-site repairs of athletic facilities through the issuance of work orders; seeks assistance from external vendors if necessary.
  • Assists with game/event management for all sports programs and will serve as a point of contact for visiting teams, officials, security, promotions, spirit groups, ticket operations, concession and the band.
  • Prepares and follows up on work orders to ensure the routing maintenance and cleaning operations of the stadium and all athletics facilities. Maintains records of such work orders.
  • Serves as the event manager for intercollegiate competitions.
  • Assists with updating the Event Management System (EMS) with facilities staffing, police, and parking.
  • Works closely with the Departmental and University Facilities Management groups to maintain and prepare facilities for use on game day.
  • Monitors various game management budgets and assists with processing of invoices
  • Supervises and trains temporary staff.
  • Communicates with various event entities to insure knowledge of upcoming athletic events and anticipated attendance such as police, security, parking, concessions and department staff.
  • Operates and manages the FIU Athletics facility master calendar.
  • Assists the Assistant Athletic Director and Director of Athletic Facilities & Game Ops in operating the University athletic facilities.
  • Serves as on-site representative for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at events held in University athletic facilities.
  • Assists with the physical set-up of equipment at events. Schedules, hires, and trains event staff (internal and external).
  • Serves as the point of contact person for facilitating outsourced services during events (i.e. concessions, box office, parking, custodial); and as a Facility and game management administrator at designated athletic events.
  • Establishes and maintains positive working relationship with University outsourced constituents directly involved with the operation of the University athletics facilities.
  • Resolves complaints or problems that arise during events and activities sponsored by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
  • Serves as the Coordinator and scheduling liaison for FIU Athletic events and practices including Cheerleaders, Golden Dazzlers and Mascot.
  • Performs essential duties during any emergencies, such as hurricanes, storms and/or any other University emergency closing. Is expected to be available to report to work as needed during University emergency closings with appropriate notification by department administrator.
  • Adheres to all State of Florida, University, NCAA, Conference, and department rules and policies pertaining to the position of Athletic Facility and Game Manager. Reports any known NCAA violations or concerns to the Director of Athletic Compliance.
