Engineering Technician - ICON Shelters

Summary

The Icon Engineering team provides design services for our end customers and supports our network of
sales representatives. The tasks of the engineering team range from initial project design coordination,
development of engineered models and drawings, creation of fabrication prints, and customer support
through prompt communication.
The Engineering Tech 1 position is responsible for tasks related to Pre-Sale and Post-Sale requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Modeling
1. Communicates with internal sales team during the design phase of the project.
2. Interprets order entry forms and preliminary drawings to determine project scope.
3. Coordinates with Engineering team and understands the structural calculations.
4. Creates 3D models for basic steel-framed structures and roofing systems with Inventor.
5. Accurately develops Submittal Drawings based on the Inventor models.
6. Accurately develops Installation Drawings based on the Inventor models.
7. Processes revisions to submittal and fabrication drawings.
8. Reviews the work of others and provides constructive mark-ups.
9. Performs other related duties as required.

Detailing
1. Coordinates with Engineering team and understand the structural calculations.
2. Reviews 3D models created by modelling team for completeness.
3. Creates fabrication prints based on the 3D model.
4. Transfers project BOMs through ProFile to Epicor.
5. Creates anchor bolt drawings and releases anchor bolt packages in Epicor.
6. Processes revisions to fabrication drawings.
7. Processes print releases to the shop.
8. Performs other related duties as required.

Education and/or Experience
* High School Diploma and proven experience with CAD/Design Software minimally required
* Associate's Degree or engineering technology degree preferred

Travel and Location
* This position requires minimal to no travel
* This position reports to the Icon Shelters office. Remote work may be approved on a case-by-case
basis.

Computer Skills
* Demonstrated proficiency with AutoDesk Inventor and/or AutoCAD and/or Solidworks
* Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access

Other Requirements
1. Knowledge in modelling/detailing procedures
2. Capable of working in a fast-paced production environment
3. Highly self-motivated to take action and keep projects moving forward
