Job Summary

Leonardo DRS Land Systems is seeking a full time Supervisor Operations I for our Machining area in our Bridgeton, MO location. This role is responsible for supervising and leading a machining and welding team, ensuring safety, cost, schedule, and quality goals are realized for an assigned area/product line/work cell. This role will work with their peers in the company to improve the manufacturability of products and advise on make/buy decisions.

Job Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of the machining and welding areas. May support other areas as needed
  • Ensure proper safety requirements are followed
  • Coach and train team on tooling selection, machining techniques, and adjustments to meet quality and cost goals
  • Ensure product/service quality through proper utilization of resources and adherence to applicable standards
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's polices and applicable laws and regulations
  • Lead activities to resolve issues and problems, identifying root cause and effecting appropriate corrective action
  • Monitor and enable internal and external customer satisfaction
  • Drive continuous improvement through deployment of best practices, such as Lean Six Sigma
  • Maintain and continuously improve areas, which impact on Team Member safety
  • Hire, manage career development, and assess performance of assigned team members
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Attend applicable internal or external customer meetings
  • Participate on special project teams
  • Support new product introduction activities
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in related discipline or equivalent experience. Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated leadership and coaching skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient technical expertise with demonstrated knowledge of CNC programming (MasterCAM)
  • Proficient technical expertise with CNC mills, lathes, and tool selection
  • Knowledgeable of work safety requirements around machinery
  • Experience with Industrial Engineering concepts, 5S/6S, and lean techniques and principles
  • Knowledgeable and familiarity with standards (ISO, AS, etc)
  • Knowledgeable of manufacturing cost methods and key inputs to control cost
  • Position requires the ability to squat, kneel, lift, and climb/crawl
  • Willing and able to travel up to 10% as needed

The salary range for this position is $66,049.00/year- $85,864.00 for the state of Illinois. This range reflects the good faith estimate of pay the employer is willing to offer at the time of posting. Several factors can influence the pay scale, including but not limited to: Federal contract labor categories and contract wage rates, collective bargaining agreements, geographic location, business considerations, scope, and responsibilities of the position, local or other applicable market conditions, and internal equity. Other factors include the candidate's qualifications such as prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education/training, and certifications. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for: annual performance-based bonuses, equity awards, and overtime pay (for non-exempt employees as applicable.
