JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Pennsylvania State University Libraries' Research Data Stewardship Department seeks a part-time Data Analyst position. This position will focus on collecting, analyzing, and visualizing data to better understand patron engagement and needs. Using interactive dashboards and reports, the analyst will help identify trends and opportunities to improve systems such as consultation bookings, patron feedback, and patron engagement. This collaborative role will strengthen the department's ability to deliver data services and contribute to strategic goals across the organization.

Job duties include:

  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards that visualize department metrics (e.g., consultations, workshop attendance, feedback, etc.)

  • Build and manage automated data pipelines that integrate data from multiple sources.

  • Clean, transform, and normalize data across reporting systems.

  • Analyze trends and patterns to inform service development and decision-making.

Requirements, qualifications, and/or competencies:

  • Knowledge and skills in data analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Power Bi, Tableau, etc.)

  • Aptitude to diagnose and solve problems as well as learn new skills, quickly either independently or through instruction

  • Ability to share knowledge with others through sufficient oral and written communication skills

  • Strong workethic, positiveattitude, and ability to work well within a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with a statistical language such as R or python

Schedule:

  • This position will not exceed 20 hoursper workweek. Remote work is possible.

Compensation:

The starting rate for this job is $15/hour.
