Electrical Designer | Jacksonville, FL

IMEG is hiring an Electrical Designer in Jacksonville, FL, to work closely with a team of experienced engineers and consultants to deliver engineering solutions and advice that drive positive client outcomes. In this role, you'll assist with engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems in buildings while supporting code-compliant, IMEG-standard deliverables. You'll also collaborate across teams to meet project goals and client expectations within the project's monetary budget.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned engineering tasks of low to moderate complexity in support of building electrical system design
  • Assist with electrical system design and analysis, producing detailed designs, specifications, and calculations per code requirements and IMEG standards
  • Use engineering software and tools to develop accurate technical documentation and design deliverables
  • Interact with clients to gather requirements, communicate technical information, and build professional working relationships
  • Support project execution by assisting with planning, budgeting, and scheduling to meet deadlines and objectives
  • Document design decisions and client instructions while monitoring project design progress
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to propose practical, efficient solutions for low to moderate complexity tasks
  • Participate in IMEG quality control processes to ensure designs meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards, and client requirements
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices; contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts
  • Prioritize safety by identifying and mitigating potential safety risks associated with electrical systems
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (including other engineers, architects, and project managers) to deliver integrated solutions aligned with project goals

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred
  • 5 years of experience minimum required, 6 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry
  • Developing proficiency of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
  • Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems design for buildings
  • Knowledge of industry standard engineering software and tools, including lighting photometric calculation software such as AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, or similar; energy compliance software such as ComCheck; familiarity with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu; proficiency in the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) software and CTC Revit Add-In Tools; and familiar use of reference material resources such as TechStreet and MadCAD
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenge
  • Knowledge of IMEG Smart Engineering Design Assist (SET) Tools within Revit for electrical calculations, coordination, properties, etc.
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays
