SUMMARY

Ajax Building Company is seeking a motivated Field Engineer to support the execution of complex construction projects from site mobilization through closeout. This role is designed to build foundational field experience, working closely with experienced Superintendents and project teams to develop the skills needed for future field leadership roles.

The Field Engineer will play an active role in coordinating daily field operations, supporting craft supervision, and ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project plans. This position offers hands-on exposure to all aspects of field execution while contributing to the successful delivery of impactful projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist the Superintendent with daily field operations, including coordination of craft personnel and subcontractors
  • Support planning of work activities, including manpower, materials, equipment, and sequencing
  • Monitor jobsite activities to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project plans and specifications
  • Help enforce safety standards and ensure adherence to OSHA and company policies
  • Identify potential issues in the field and communicate proactively with the Superintendent to support problem-solving
  • Assist with layout, logistics, and coordination between trades to maintain project flow
  • Maintain clear communication with field teams and support overall jobsite organization
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support project success and team objectives

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Internship or prior field experience in construction strongly preferred
  • Foundational knowledge of construction methods, materials, and jobsite operations
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to learn quickly, take direction, and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of safety practices and commitment to maintaining a safe jobsite
  • Demonstrated initiative and interest in growing within field operations

Physical Requirements

Must have the ability to perform the following tasks:

  • Coordinate the movements of eyes, hands, and fingers with full use of hands, arms and fingers.
  • See well (either naturally or with correction).
  • Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or work at any height.
  • Lift and carry objects weighting up to 50 pounds and occasionally more.
