Overview:

A Senior Financial Consultant position with shared responsibility for project success. Health care and hospital system experience, or similar, required. Recognized ability to further client relationships and develop and oversee financial analytics, methodologies, and approach. Demonstrated success in impacting revenue and business/revenue growth. Manages the firm's resources (people, processes and tools) and assignments with proficiency, fluency, and aptitude. Teaches and mentors staff and effectively embodies and expresses the firm's values and mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Designs and leads methodologies and strategies to address client requirements for financial planning, financial impact analysis, and business planning
  • Evaluates financial/economic impact and return of projects across health care and hospital system environments
  • Assists in defining client financial planning/analysis requirements
  • Leads financial planning components of client engagements
  • Ensures accuracy of work and delivery of high-quality final documents
  • Oversees and is accountable to work plan, budget and schedule, providing primary interface with the client and overseeing project administration
  • Experience with additional market sectors such as mixed-use developments, master-planned communities, higher education, and wellbeing services is helpful
  • Acts as primary client contact for financial components of projects, building and strengthening connections through a comprehensive understanding of project mission, goals, financial policies, and performance
  • Manages the execution and delivery of financial analysis documents through all phases of a project scope and shares/harvests lessons learned and project impact
  • Coordinates project team interaction both internally and with all other project participants
  • Develops methodologies and tools to support robust financial planning and impact analysis on behalf of clients
  • Exercises skills of persuasion and negotiation on critical issues throughout scope of the project
  • Holds project team responsible for deliverables on HKS standards, best practices, and quality expectations
  • Endorses the firm's cultural values, including a commitment to quality, innovation, learning, and growth
  • Facilitates team's self-evaluation to distill and distribute lessons learned within the firm, in collaboration with the Principal in Charge
  • Actively invests in the professional development of staff through mentoring, performance management, and career planning

  • Resolves conflict effectively and encourages a healthy team environment
  • Seeks leadership opportunities by providing direction and feedback to and collaborating with team leaders

  • Assists PIC/PM with the development and management of project job costs, budget, and resourcing projections
  • Collaborates with PIC/PM on project financial performance, such as confirming invoices are paid current before issuing documents
  • Understands fundamental accounting principles and the project accounting process
  • Collaborates in and may be responsible for delivering a project within defined budget requirements
  • Builds, updates, and executes project schedules assuring deliverables are completed on time and aligned with the budgeted labor; recalibrates as necessary
  • Applies skills to minimize risks and maximize value and seeks means to improve efficiencies and reduce costs
  • Maintains accountability to project plan and planned utilization rate
  • Understands contract and recognizes additional services needed
  • Participates in the pursuit and marketing of potential projects including developing statements of capabilities related to financial planning and impact analysis
  • Assists in negotiating scope and fees on contracts; monitors for changes in scope to initiate additional service letters
  • Supports PIC and may lead the business development process by identifying new opportunities, marketing current clients for repeat business, and assisting with proposals, budgets, and schedules
  • Identifies, maintains, and cultivates essential relationships

Qualifications:

  • Accredited advanced-level degree (masters or higher) in Accounting, Economics or Finance
  • Typically with 10+ years of experience in respective sector settings; proven financial planning/financial impact analysis/business planning experience within a respected consultancy firm preferred
  • Specific experience with health care or hospital system finance and reimbursement is required
  • Familiarity with cross-sector finances and return assessments
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio and PowerBI
  • Experience in financial planning tools
  • Experience in working with architects preferred
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma preferred
  • Proven track record in business development and successful project management
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
  • Ability to manage client relationships including understanding client expectations and invoice, collections and contract management
  • Ability to manage team with diplomatic and collaborative leadership style which puts value on relationships and collaboration, both internal and external
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise and professional manner both verbally and in writing to various audiences, including senior level executives both internally and externally
  • Ability to problem solve and apply innovative solutions
  • Ability to collaborate and encourage collaboration in a team environment
  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines at expected quality

Travel may be required.

Base Salary Range: $130k - 175k annually - Denver, Chicago, Washington DC, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, New York and Seattle
