Overview

We are currently accepting applications for this position, with an anticipated hire date at the end of April. Candidates are encouraged to apply early for consideration.

  • Location: FHN Memorial Hospital
  • Shift: Variable, Monday - Friday (possible weekend shift based on current projects)
  • Schedule: Five 8-hour days

Applies coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings and other structures by performing the following duties and other duties as assigned, i.e. snow removal.


Responsibilities

  • Reads work order or receives instructions from supervisor regarding painting.
  • Prepares surfaces and may remove old paint from surfaces to prepare surfaces for painting.
  • Fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other filler.
  • Selects premixed paints, or mixes required portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances to prepare paint that matches specified colors.
  • Removes fixtures such as pictures and electric switchcovers from walls prior to painting. Spreads dropcloths over floors and room furnishings, and covers surfaces such as baseboards, door frames, and windows with masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
  • Paints surfaces with brushes, spray gun, or paint rollers.
  • Simulates wood grain, marble, brick, or tile effects.
  • Applies paint with cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers to create special effects.
  • Erects scaffolding or sets up ladders to perform tasks above ground level.
  • Knowledge in the use of a computer and related organizational programs with CMMS is required.
  • Maintains a complete electronic inventory of all finishes of all campus buildings.
  • May perform some construction and demolishing duties as necessary.
  • May be required to work flexible hours including holidays and weekends to help with special events.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.
Two to three years' experience in painting, plastering, and wall covering


Certification/Licensure

For those driving Mercyhealth vehicles:
Maintain a valid driver's license.
Have and maintain an acceptable driving record per Mercyhealth's HR.100 Fleet and Driver Safety policy.

For those driving their personal vehicles:
Maintain a valid driver's license and reliable transportation with proof of vehicle insurance when requested.
Have and maintain an acceptable driving record per Mercyhealth's HR.100 Fleet and Driver Safety policy.


Special Physical Demands

The Special Physical Demands are considered Essential Job Functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/move over 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
