Job Summary:

The Tax Specialist IV is responsible for preparing complex tax returns and workpapers for individuals using predominantly SurePrep, GoSystems and Adobe.

Job Duties:



  • Organizes documents received from Client Relationship Team ("CRT")
  • Prepares and processes individual income tax returns
  • Completes workpapers using software SurePrep and/or Adobe and/or Excel
  • Performs appropriate referencing and documentation in software or on workpapers
  • Completes all return processing in GoSystems or other forms preparation software
  • Interacts with internal team to gain information, documents and data necessary to complete assigned tasks
  • Communicates significant issues to Tax Lead or Management
  • Meets internal deadlines to match the internal client expectations for timely delivery of service, and ensures data is collected and processed in a timely manner to comply with deadlines and filing requirements
  • Maintains client data accurately and effectively
  • Uses firm document storage processes, procedures and tools to manage data
  • Complies with all firm policies, standards and BSC client procedures
  • Complies with Tax Quality Manual
  • Assists Specialists levels II and III with day-to-day questions and issues, as needed
  • Assists Tax Leads with review of basic returns and workpapers
  • Other duties as required



Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education:



  • High School diploma or equivalent, required
  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, preferred


Experience:



  • Four (4) or more years of general accounting, tax experience, or equivalent experience earned working in public accounting or consulting, required
  • One (1) or more years of experience preparing individual tax returns, required


Software:



  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word and Adobe, required
  • Proficient in the use of tax applications and research such as OneSource, SurePrep, GoSystems, GoFileRoom and DataFlow, preferred

  • Ability to work in a deadline driven environment and handle multiple projects/tasks with an attention to detail
  • Ability to successfully multi-task while working in coordination with other professionals
  • Ability to understands and maintains confidentiality of all information
  • Ability to relate with diverse personalities in a tactful and mature manner
  • Ability to respond tactfully and professionally in high demand situations
  • Takes ownership of work and completes tasks in a timely manner
  • Ability to prioritize and meet both client and departmental demands
  • Capable of following procedures and communicating issues and status to multiple supervisors
  • Ability to efficiently process data using strong technology skills



Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

National Range: $25.00/hr - $28.00/hr
Maryland Range: $25.00/hr - $28.00/hr
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $25.00/hr - $28.00/hr
