Overview
2026 1L and/or 2027 2L Financial Services Litigation Summer Associate Overview * You will be a full member of Orrick's 2026 1L Summer Associate Program and/or Orrick's 2027 2L Summer Associate Program and compensated as an Orrick Summer Associate. * This position will be based out of Orrick's New York, Orange County, or San Francisco office. * Orrick partner sponsors will oversee your work assignments, networking opportunities, and career coaching. * Contingent upon work performance, and continued academic excellence, you will have the opportunity to receive a return offer as a first-year associate. If your transcript is not available at the time of application, you may log back into your dashboard to supplement your application once it is available. * The application process will close when all available positions are filled. * Please apply directly at Orrick.com * Virtual and/or in-person interviews will take place on a rolling basis beginning in January and offers will be extended on a rolling basis. * If you have questions about this opportunity, please contact recruiting@orrick.com Responsibilities Responsibilities, Training and Events As an Orrick Summer Associate, our goal is to provide you with a meaningful and rewarding summer experience. * You will do substantive financial services litigation work, spanning a wide breadth of assignments, including depositions, research, brief writing, and (where applicable) trial work. * You will be provided with opportunities to deepen your understanding of the practice of law through attorney shadowing experiences and participation in both local and national training programs, including workshops on improving your legal writing skills and how to become a more effective speaker. * Our summer program features a variety of unique events and programming designed to foster connections among Summer Associates and Orrick attorneys. These include both local and national social activities. Past events have included courses on making sushi, charcuterie boards, and candles, as well as recreational activities like baseball games, canoeing, sailing, beach cycling, karaoke, Topgolf, bowling, and chocolate tastings. * Applicants must be pursuing a JD degree at an ABA-accredited law school with an anticipated graduation date in 2028. Applicants enrolled in part-time JD programs or pursuing dual degrees (e.g., JD/MBA) at an ABA-accredited law school, who are not expected to graduate in 2028, are also eligible to apply. Compensation and Benefits The expected gross salary for this position is $4,326.92/week. Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick's estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
