POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT

Moss' Buyer I is an early career purchasing professional responsible for supporting the procurement of materials for assigned projects and commodities within the Electrical Procurement Team. This role works under close supervision and follows established processes to execute purchasing transactions, maintain accurate ERP data, and coordinate with internal stakeholders to support material availability.

The Buyer I serves as a support liaison between suppliers, project teams, operations, and warehouse personnel. The role contributes to operational continuity by creating purchase orders, assisting with quote collection and basic analysis, tracking order status, and escalating routine procurement issues to more senior buyers. This position helps ensure accurate ERP documentation, timely material delivery, and consistent execution of Moss' purchasing standards across the electrical procurement function.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support day-to-day purchasing activities for assigned materials, including creating POs, securing basic confirmations, and tracking delivery status
  • Assist and organize supplier quotes for recurring, commodity, and project-based purchases in accordance with established guideline
  • Review purchase requisitions for completeness (descriptions, quantities, required dates) and obtain clarifications from requestors as needed
  • Perform basic comparisons of supplier quotes (price, lead time, standard terms) and provide summaries or recommendations to Buyer II or the Purchasing and Operations Manager
  • Maintain regular communication with project teams, operations, and warehouse staff to support material availability and alignment with project schedules
  • Use established reports and tools to help monitor inventory levels for assigned items and prepare replenishment POs under the direction of more senior buyers
  • Assist in resolving routine delivery, quality, or invoice discrepancies in coordination with suppliers, warehouse, project teams, and Accounts Payable, escalating non-routine issues as appropriate
  • Ensure ERP data accuracy by entering and updating pricing, lead times, supplier information, and PO details; attach relevant documentation and follow defined coding and documentation standards
  • Adhere to purchasing policies, approval limits, and compliance requirements to support effective controls and audit readiness
  • Support cost-reduction, process improvement, and spend visibility initiatives by identifying transactional issues, providing input on process gaps, and assisting with basic purchasing reports
  • Build professional working relationships with suppliers through timely, clear, and courteous communication consistent with Moss' values
  • Participate in training and development activities to build knowledge of electrical and solar materials, Moss' procurement processes, and fundamental commercial concepts
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 0-2 years of procurement, purchasing, or related experience; experience within construction, manufacturing, or energy sectors preferred
  • Exposure to supplier interaction and procurement workflows (e.g., quote requests, PO processing, order follow-up) preferred
  • Experience with ERP or purchasing systems preferred
