Postdoctoral Fellow The Brain Tumor Immunotherapy Laboratory

Mass General Physicians Organization
United States, Massachusetts, Boston
60 Blossom Street (Show on map)
Jan 23, 2026
The Brain Tumor Immunotherapy Laboratory (BTIL), under the leadership of Dr. Bryan D. Choi, is seeking a talented postdoctoral fellow to join the group and help advance novel experimental cellular immunotherapies for cancers such as glioblastoma. Situated within the Department of Neurosurgery and Cancer Center at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), the BTIL is a leading group conducting cutting-edge research to develop novel immune-based therapeutics for malignant brain tumors, including CAR T cells, antibody & viral-based therapeutics, and beyond. Utilizing state-of-the-art in vitro and animal models of brain tumors, the BTIL leverages interdisciplinary experience across neurosurgery, pathology, basic immunology, and clinical research to validate promising experimental therapies for malignant brain tumors and translate them into human clinical trials.
The ideal candidate is a highly qualified doctoral graduate with a strong interest in immunology, tumor biology, neuro-oncology, or surgical research. Responsibilities will include designing and producing CAR T cells and other immunotherapies, leading in vitro & in vivo experiments, analyzing data, and playing a major role in writing and preparing scientific reports for publication. Postdoctoral fellows will also mentor junior lab members and participate in training of and collaboration with visiting researchers.

  • PhD or MD with focus in immunology, oncology, neurology/neuroscience, cell therapy, molecular biology, or a related discipline.

  • Direct experience with CAR T cells, in vitro immunologic assays, flow cytometry, and murine tumor models is highly desirable.

  • Experience with single-cell RNA-sequencing, spatial biology/transcriptomics, or computational/bioinformatic approaches is a plus.

  • Prior authorship of peer-reviewed publications.

  • Ability to work independently and contribute significantly to scientific writing and manuscripts.

  • Meticulous attention to detail and labmanagement skills.

  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English.

This is a full-time, on-site job at MGH's main campus, requiring occasional physical activity (e.g., lifting of lab boxes and materials). Postdoctoral fellows will be appointed through Harvard Medical School (HMS) and will receive a competitive salary and benefit package in accordance with NIH and HMS guidelines.

Applicants should submit a cover letter detailing their interest in the lab & research experience, a CV, a potential start date, and references to:
